Stayed overnight whilst attending a performance in Playhouse. Staff were excellent and helpful. Room was compact and clean. Only downside was it was a bit shabby- burst seat under window, bedside lamps were a bit dodgy and scuff marks on walls. Also as it was small there was nowhere to hang our coats except in wardrobe, not handy if your coats are wet. Breakfast was fine though coffee was in a large urn, no different types available, and choices were limited cereal wise, but adequate.

we always stay here when visiting Edinburgh and this was our second visit this year. It is so easy to visit this hotel either by car or bus. The bus stop is so close to the hotel and buses frequent. The reception staff are very welcoming as is seeing Magnus the cat!! Restaurant and housekeeping staff extremely friendly and always smiling.

I enjoyed my stay very much. The staff are lovely and allowed me into my room 2 hours early to allow me to get changed for my brother’s funeral. Dinner was delicious.

We enjoyed our stay very much. The signature room with castle view was very nice but the bathroom let it down, it was very small. The breakfast and evening meal was nice and all the staff were very friendly and welcomimg.

First visit since takeover not the same high standards as Best Western. Bar prices very high e.g £6.50 for a pint of Tenants Lager my opinion outrageous even for a hotel. Breakfast was not as good either fresh fruit obviously days old etc. Don't imagine returning pity used to enjoy my stays at Braid Hills. Also the radiators needed bleed only heat was at bottom of radiators.

On arrival at the hotel we were welcomed by Leanne, who instantly made us feel welcome. The reception area is well kept and cosy. On entering our room we were pleasantly surprised by the size, and it was spotlessly clean and warm. As with some of the older hotels, there were some areas that needed attention. There was no noise from the busy street outside. We both had a fantastic night’s sleep. There was a great choice for breakfast (maybe add square sausage!!) Its car park is a great size. There’s a bus stop right outside that goes into Edinburgh City Centre . We will definitely be returning ?

Had a lovely overnight at Braid Hills hotel, Edinburgh last week. The hotel is lovely and clean. Rooms have everything you need. Breakfast buffet is a fantastic choice, everything to suit everyone's needs. 20 minutes from the city centre by bus which stops just a 5 minutes walk from the hotel and bonus is £4 return per person. Definitely be back.

I have stayed at this hotel on a few occasions before over several years. This time I was a single traveller and was appointed a single room (which had a double bed), small utility room with sink and tea/coffeee making facilities. Also an en-suite shower with usual wash basin and sink. No bath. There was also a very small decking area accessed via the utiklity room with one small table and chair having no outlook whatsoever. Decking was very slippery. Generally I found the overall condition of the hotel to be a bit run down, with wear particluarly evident on ground floor corridor carpet and stairs. I did not see the next level up. The room itself smelled damp but was tidy enough albeit dated and a bit worn down looking. TV on wall worked. Wi-fi worked. Unfortunately, the hotel's fire alarm was activated about 0045 hours and guests evacuated to the outside until the fire service deemed it safe to return within. Not the fault of the hotel and from what I heard the alarm was triggered by a smoker have a fly puff where he/she should not have. Had been looking forward to breakfast but this was disappointing, compared to my memory of previous breakfasts there. Totally self service, even tea/coffee/toast. Was a buffet style breakfast for both cold and hot fare. No egss other than fried, no browns, no mushrooms, no black pudding and distinct lack of pastries ( there was two ) that I saw with much more guests in the dining area. The hot food was at least warm to hot and was nice enough. I did not have an evening meal there nor drink in the bar so cannot comment in that respect. Overall I was disappointed in my stay, given I had chosen this hotel due to good experiences in the past. I did not complain while I was there and indeed I'm not one for complaining normally, but on this occasion I think it merited this review. It should be noted that my wife & I utilise MyHotelBreak often and I don't believe I have had any reasons to leave a negative review in the past.

A lovely old house, but food lets it down! I had two very poor dinners, although my husband was happy with his choice! Our room104 should not be used in winter! The room is so enormous that the radiator although very hot,was inadequate for the size of the room! A second heater is required at the window end! Dining room & bar rather cool near Windows.

Lovely hotel, very friendly helpful staff, room upgraded prior to arrival, given a lovely suite with an upstairs bedroom away from the corridor, quiet, warm and clean. Large bathroom, well equipped. Delicious breakfast included. Great choice of food and lovely coffee, would definitely choose to stay again. Thankyou.

We spent a most enjoyable long weekend here, with dinner included on the first two nights. The food was excellent, and the chef even made us haggis needs and tattoos for Burns Night though it was not on the menu. All the staff were friendly and helpful, especially in the restaurant. The reams were clean and came with a fridge and fresh bottles od water each day. The only minor drawback is the lack of a lift to the upper floors.

We stayed on a B&B basis didn’t have a meal in the hotel itself. The rooms are as you would expect for a 3 star, although if you have limited mobility I wouldn’t recommend as the hotel doesn’t have a lift as far as we could tell ( our room was on the third floor up the main stairs) breakfast was nice plenty of choice for cooked and continental. Staff are professional and courteous, handy for going out in Edinburgh as the hotel is on the bus route to Princes Street and there’s a night bus if you’re out late. Room itself is nice, hot shower, comfortable bed, bottled water replaced foc, spacious room was upgraded to a room with a view and could just see the Firth of Forth (at a push)
