Nice hotel and very friendly staff. Car parking is expensive, £15 for overnight.

Very clean, room nice, ironing board and iron in room, no bath mat and bath very slippery. Paying £15 per day parking is excessive and if you don’t get timing right you will receive a fine

Really enjoyed our stay! Hotel was very good! Only thing I would say it isn’t for the less mobile! Very steep hill in and out of property. However, would def return!

Have stayed here many time, always enjoyed it however, was disappointed this visit. Ordered bottle champagne, just under £100, in my opinion and as usually happens, should be opened at our table, Sent it back and advised its a 'health & Safety issue' also, breakfast was cold and rooms have definitely went down hill. The 'leather' in side of bed was all scuffed

Rather disappointing stay weekend of 22nd/23rd Oct (DB&B package) - was supposed to part of a birthday treat for my wife. Room small - despite upgrading to a 'King' - threadbare carpet - but nice personal touches with the welcome cakes and bath robes etc - enquired at reception if our room was what we had booked - staff noted they will check with manager and get back to us within half an hour - still waiting. Room was clean but in need of an update. Restaurant menu limited and within this some choices not available (due to delivery issues with an ongoing weather warning). Food decent but service slow despite being only 1 of 3-4 tables being catered for. Breakfast (buffet) best described as chaotic - all the items were their just not all at the same time - waiting way too long for basic breakfast items to be replenished - quality decent enough. One small decanter of milk for cereals and tea/coffee - constantly running out and having to wait to be replenished.

I have wanted to stay at this hotel since it opened, just never got around to it. It was £15 to park here overnight, I thought that was expensive but maybe it’s quite normal. The staff are lovely, the tails are fabulous but that’s about it. We had the Bruce suite which was a weird mix, the bed area was lovely, modern and comfortable but the sitting area and stairs were tired, carpet coming away from the stairs and scratched table. The TV wasn’t working but we later found this to be an issue in all the rooms. The 2 TVs in the lounge were on but one was lagging behind the other which became annoying. We went for dinner and they only had half the items on the menu. The food we did get was fine but nothing to write home about. The chips were a soggy mess in a separate dish to my chicken burger and the coleslaw was weirdly hot. A family came in to try and have dinner just after 20:30 and were told the kitchen was closed. To give them there due, after a few back and forths and an intervention by the receptionist, they made up sandwiches for them. There was a general air of tension in the restaurant, it wasn’t a relaxing meal. Breakfast the next morning was buffet style. There were no tables set up and the tables that were available had dirty plates and cups from previous guests. We eventually got a table but saw other guests joining onto other people’s tables. There was no coffee left and my husband had to go find the receptionist to get some. Gutted the place I had looked forward to staying was a bit of a let down. As I mentioned the tails were great and the staff we spoke to were apologetic and lovely.

The hotel appears lovely, very modern and nice rooms. The service was not good, very understaffed management were not much help. Long wait for food, evening and breakfast times. No working tv’s or wifi.

The hotel was fine. When we were checked in they didn't put us in the room we'd requested (£10 upgrade) but they also didn't charge us for it. The room we had was pretty basic which was disappointing. We also weren't told about breakfast at check-in so we ended up not making that either. Parking for the night was £15 which didn't seem to be clearly noted on their website, seemed expensive.

Very disappointed that this is a 4 star hotel, the cost to park was £15 for 24 hours, no reduction for just an overnight stay. The room was nice but quite small, after unpacking the case there was nowhere to put it, there was 3 windows all overlooked, not very private when blinds not drawn. There was no shower or handwash in the bathroom and although the receptionist went to get us some there wasnt any!!!! The meal in the restaurant was very good but we ordered 3 items off the menu we were given that werent available so disappointing. Prior to our stay we had stayed in 3 star accommodation which put this one to shame.

I am sorry to say we were rather disappointed in Hotel Colessio. My first impressions on arrival were dirty finger prints on the glass front door and on the 2 swing doors leading to our room which was very small . We had booked a romantic break for our 51st wedding anniversary. The hotel was very busy and there was a wedding on the 29th . There was no strawberries with chocolate as advertised although the chef gave us a plate of cakes instead . On our arrival in the dining room the waiter explained that 3 of the choices were not available due to the wedding , which left us with a choice of fish and chips or chicken . The staff seemed to be under a lot of pressure due to the wedding so we didn't complain . We just felt that it fell well below a 4 star experience and at £98 pp it was a bit of a disappointment...we won't be back !!

Hotel was nice, staff were lovely and very friendly. Wasn't given a room key during our stay so needed let into our room everytime. Food was very good. Parking is extortionate, this should be reviewed.

Great location, friendly staff and nice room. One downside. 15 pounds a day for car parking which has to be done online every day so must be back to hotel to resubmit after 24 hours.

I was not too impressed with having to pay £15 for parking. I had booked the romantic break as it was our wedding anniversary. The room we were initially booked into was small and tired and did not meet with my approval and the expected fizz and strawberries were not in the room. Noting my disappointment my husband spoke with a girl at reception who immediately apologised and moved us into a king suite which we very much appreciated and on our return the fizz and strawberries were in our room. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening meal, the food was delicious, the waiting staff were very attentive and after our meal we were presented with some macaroons and berries as an anniversary treat, it was a lovely gesture. Our breakfast was delicious and the staff were again friendly and attentive. We will definitely return.

Fantastic value for DBB plus Prosecco. Room was large and well equipped. The location is excellent within walking distance of the castle. Big thanks to Jacqueline on reception for returning the Nintendo charger we left in the room.

Staff member Was Very welcoming although he was very busy trying to get people booked in. He rectified our room which had many areas of threadbare carpet and poor hygiene standards in bathroom. A change of Room was organised which we appreciated. The staff were very professional polite and hardworking. Breakfast menu was very limited in choice but very well cooked ,good quality produce and served freshly cooked on a hot plate. Dinner menu although food was tasty was certainly a poor standard for a four star venue. . Hygiene throughout lounge and bar areas , corridors ,downstairs toilets was of a very high standard. .We have been guests at the hotel a few times and I think it would be fair to say although times have been and continue to be difficult it has some way to go to be four star throughout all areas.. Very relaxed short break .

Lovely stay, been here several times, never had a ground floor room that I'm personally not keen on and this room was not as nice as others I have been in on other floors but was only one night, staff throughout always Lovely, very pleasant & helpful. Food & service always great. Was on the break with Prosecco & strawberries as was our anniversary unfortunately we didn't get this. I did say on check out and reception said they will pick up next time I stay. Great location short walk to Castle etc & shops.

Romantic Break night booked via myhotelbreak.com for 1 night. Hotel is very nice and I would recommend it to anyone for that special occasion. In town centre and ample free parking at the hotel. Hotel's own website price was £40 more expensive so booked via myhotelbreak.com. My booking was for a King Deluxe Double Room which was on the first floor. The room itself was nice although it was quite hot with windows open and was located above the kitchen with the constant drone of the ventilation shafts outside windows. Maybe this room is alloted for indirect bookings via other agents at reduced rates. If booking then avoid rooms above the kitchen.
