Muthu Oban Regent Hotel, Oban

We recently spent two nights at the Muthu Oban Regent Hotel and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel is ideally located right on the seafront, close to shops, restaurants, and convenient parking. The exterior has a charming retro feel, while inside, we were warmly welcomed by friendly and professional staff. We were pleasantly surprised to receive a complimentary upgrade to a newly refurbished sea-view room. It was spacious, beautifully presented, and the bed was exceptionally comfortable. On our first evening, we had booked dinner at the hotel. The staff kindly informed us that a coach tour group was dining in and asked if we would be happy to join them for a buffet meal. We agreed, and while the selection was somewhat limited, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere relaxed — we heard no complaints from fellow diners. Breakfast each morning was excellent, with a wide variety of options to suit all tastes. All in all, a very enjoyable stay. We wouldn’t hesitate to return in the future.

We got a deal with yourselves with a bottle of wine on arrival and dinner on the first night. To be honest the dinner wasn't very nice and the restaurant was empty. On the both mornings for breakfast there was a good choice of food but everything wasn't very warm, even our tea and coffee. We noticed that the bar had its shutters down around 9pm which we thought was strange. The hotel seemed to be quiet even at breakfast there were only another 2 people there for breakfast. I dont think we will be back there again as it was the same when we went a couple of weeks before.

The deal we booked was for 2 nights with 2 course dinner and bottle of wine on the 1st night. On arrival we were informed that as the hotel were hosting a large group they were o ly serving a buffet style dinner that night. The choices available were not to our taste and the pork dish we did eat was very tough. The TV signal in our room was terrible. Picture pixelated and sound cutting out. Ended up watching programmes on mobile phone. Staff were pleasant enough and I think the hotel has been partly refurbished but still needs a lot of work.

We were very disappointed with this hotel, our room was okay but lacked cleanliness, it still hadn’t been serviced by 5.00pm the following day and didn’t even put fresh crockery in.

We really enjoyed our stay at the hotel. Glory at reception was very helpful and acknowledged my husband's birthday. Our room was very clean room 321 and our dinner was nice. Could not fault it at all. Only issue would be the parking.

Lovely 2 night stay staff are really friendly and helpful. Upgraded to a bay view room and view is stunning. Rooms are small but clean and comfortable. Parking easily available in one of the nearby public car parks. Hotel location is brilliant for everything shops, restaurants , ferry , walks to sights. Dinner on first night was great good choice of food. Breakfast buffet hot food could be warmer but good selection. All in all highly recommend.

Staff where fantastic very welcoming,only downside was that the food was cold when it should have been warm,water was leaking into our room but staff moved us to another room due to the water leak,not any parking at hotel.car park across from hotel but it is a payable car park.so need to move car every so often.

Lovely stay, reception staff lovely & helpful. Our room was small but suited our needs, very warm which was good as it was cold weather in January during our stay in Oban. Breakfast on the first morning was chaotic only one member of staff on duty, no milk, water, plates, ran out of eggs, sausages the list goes on. Has to wait for 10-15mins for the chef to cook more breakfast items by the time was ready our toast had gone cold then had to wait till more bread arrived. Breakfast on the second morning was so much better not sure if this was because we decided to be first so arrived for 7.30am instead of 9am the previous morning. I would give this hotel another chance & would visit again just make sure u go for breakfast.

Hotel in great location. Nice welcome at reception. Lovely decor at reception and restaurant. Room 120 was very clean and bed comfortable, could do with new windows as they seemed to be painted shut , heating very noisy and we had to turn it off at 3am in the morning as it sounded like someone was hitting the radiator with a hammer. Breakfast buffet was lovely but coffee and water urn for tea wasn’t hot enough. We stayed one night and will return as price was good value for money.

Some maintenance required but in terms of service, absolute immaculate. Need more staff from my observation because reception team is going a lots of tasks. But in general,i would return to this hotel with in short future

The bed was very comfortable and the shower was very high tech. The staff was very friendly and the location on the harbour was perfect. The only downside was that there was no lift. I was upgraded very nicely to a great room that did not have a sea view but was very nice and comfortable

Our trip just happened to run into the closing down of facilities due to the coronavirus. The thing was we returned to our hotel on Friday 20th at 7.30 and bar and restaurant were already closed,so were unable to use the last £15 of our voucher. Came down for breakfast on Saturday morning we were ordered piece of fruit,ham or cheese sandwich a yoghurt and mini packet of biscuits,on seeing this we cut our holiday short and returned home early. Staff were very good and helpful but they just had to follow orders.Food before the shut down was good.

Although the hotel is advertised on here as refurbished it isn’t, it is going through a partial refurbishment, we were given a room in the old part of the hotel and the room does need refreshed but that aside the bed was comfortable and room was clean but very very worn. The staff were fantastic and couldn’t be more helpful and the food was excellent. Nice central location. I would definitely go back but would insist on a room that has been refurbished

Very good value for money but disappointed that the “refurbished” hotel obviously only referred to the entrance bar sitting area. The bedroom and bathrooms both very tired and needing attention. Staff were all lovely

I booked this hotel for 3 nights.I was pleasantly surprised,having read many bad reviews.It was very reasonably prized,the rooms were clean and the staff very friendly. I would definatly come back here again

I like the fact that the Regent Hotel is close to all amenities in town, as well as pretty close to the ferry terminal. Have never eaten there. Can confirm that staff is always friendly and helpful. Room (single, at the back/side) was basic, bathroom even more so. Slightly noisy from an extractor fan? Not necesarily somewhere I'd spend a few nights, but for a stop over it will do. And for the price there's no complaining
