Had a fantastic night at Holyrood Hotel last weekend. Room was tidy and clean a bit cold but had a electric heater so was perfect when used. Food was great but not much of a choice from both hotel and special menu and use of facilities was great pool and gym right at door of Scottish Parliament and Arthur's Seat and 1strert down from Royal Mile (bottom end) but all in all perfect staff were amazing cannot fault hotel much would defo go back again

Was here for our wedding anniversary, enjoyed our stay , staff were great , dinner and breakfast was really good . My only gripe was heating control button didn’t work so room was a bit cold but this was rectified by an electric heater , plus was noisy at night whilst trying to sleep , we were in room 309 right next to the lift so could hear people coming and going ,and also lift going up and down , the room overlooked a lovely office block so not much of a lovely view of Edinburgh. Overall a nice stay apart from above issues and would go back again, but maybe a different room.

Problem mainly was with the room 320 Water damage to one of the walls with sodden wall and wall paper falling off which created a smell.

Many thanks to the staff at the Holyrood Hotel for facilitating a great family get together last weekend, special thanks to the restaurant who looked after us well, the food was very good, (both main meals and breakfasts). Hotel very friendly and situated right in the centre of town.

Lovely stay , room was clean and cosy . Staff were friendly and helpful. Food was very good especially the dinner . We were on a £25 dinner allowance , however they had a 3 course set menu with 3 choices for each course which was ok for us . Very short staffed , however this didn’t impact us personally.

This is a really nice hotel in a fantastic location for visiting Edinburgh. Our room was quiet, spacious and well-appointed. The staff were absolutely brilliant, despite being short-handed at times. They were polite, friendly and efficient. We had a great two-nights there and would happily go back.

Upon entering the hotel the staff could not have been more helpful, check in was swift and easy. The room was spacious and very clean with a bath and a shower, my only tiny gripe was it’s 2 beds together so created a dip when you constantly move through the night but still a very comfortable bed . The little complimentary biscuits were lovely, would have been nice to have hot chocolate on the hospitality tray. All in all I was very impressed with the room. The lovely Sarah in the restaurant was fabulous, all servers went above and beyond and nothing was too much trouble for them, the food was absolutely delicious , couldn’t even find one little thing wrong . They even let me design my own tail . Breakfast was very very busy, the continental was nice , the cooked arrived quickly and was presented nicely. It could have been warmer and the toast toasted a little more but was still entirely edible, tea and coffee were lovely. I was booked in on a deal and had already booked again for a 2 night stay and I am very excited to return.

I was really disappointed with the check-in at this hotel. This booking was for my elderly mothers birthday and after standing at a long queue at 4.50pm I was told that our room wasn't ready. Thereafter I was also told that I could only have dinner at either 6.15pm or 8.30pm (which is far too late for my mother). We eventually got a key at reception for our room at 5.35pm which gave us no time prior to dinner to get ready. It was really not the experience that I was planning to celebrate my mothers birthday.

We had a fantastic overnight stay. Fabulous food especially presentation at dinner. Staff were excellent. They just couldn’t do enough to help you. Nothing was a bother to them. Bed was super comfy. 2 negatives. The bath mat was clean but stained. Housekeeping changed immediately. The heating control button was missing so the room was a bit cold. We found a heater in the wardrobe. Problem solved.

Breakfast had a vegetarian option with a veggie sausage, potato scone, beans, mushrooms, tomato, egg and toast. Lovely jams and fruit, bowls of dried fruit for the cereals and muesli. And they had soya milk. I also had a soya milk hot chocolate in the evening. They were very accommodating, staff were very polite. Spa was lovely too, it was open till 9pm and no children in the pool after 7pm, but lacked a Jacuzzi. Very pleased with our stay and would visit again at Macdonald Holyrood Hotel!

A few minor problems but very quickly resolved by your charming, curious staff. Very comfortable hotel spacious room, clean loved the shower. We both really enjoyed dinner and breakfast, we will be back for the fish it was delicious.

This was our third stay at the Hotel. Perfectly situated for Holyrood functions, but also very central for any visit. Wonderful, spacious bedrooms and en-suites. Breakfast and dinner cannot be faulted. Staff unfailingly pleasant and helpful. Will definitely return when next in Edinburgh.

Stayed here in early July 2016. Our room was an "executive" style room on 5th floor and was very quiet and well appointed. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Location is excellent for walking most everywhere in town. The breakfast was great! The one small problem we had related to the air conditioning/climate control. Our room was a bit too warm and stuffy. The windows are sealed and cannot be opened for fresh air. The staff provided a fan, which helped, but would have preferred proper air conditioning considering the building has sealed windows.
