Inn at Lathones, St Andrews

A most enjoyable return stay at Inn at Lathones - it is our 'go to' when visiting the area. We have stayed in various of the rooms previously - all comfortable whatever size - and appreciated the spacious upgraded room on this occasion: Thank you! The characterful Inn is complemented by the friendly and hardworking staff who provide a warm welcome and helpful direction should you have need. Dinner is always enjoyable (plenty of menu choice) and breakfast deserves a special mention for the variety and quality on offer - traditional cooked breakfast, but also other options, including omelettes and excellent scrambled eggs with smoked salmon. Overall, this represents honest value for money, especially if on an off-season DB&B package, and is duly appreciated. Thank you! We will return.

Hotel room was clean and comfortable. Food was very good, although only served a meagre portion of ice cream with sticky toffee pudding. Great choice of breakfasts. Staff were very efficient and friendly, particularly Debbie

Disappointed hotel was closed and did not get checked in till 4pm , Scones and coffee on arrival , The scones were heated up and definitely not fresh .Coffee was not good and cold . Staff were ok and food ok but drink and food expensive .Bedrooms could do with fresh up .

This was a lovely stay, and very much exceeded our expectations. If you judge the hotel from the outside you might think it's not worth the stay, however we couldn't have been more wrong. The hotel has a lovely cosy feel, the staff were welcoming, friendly without being over the top. Our room was big, and bathroom absolutely huge, and you can tell it must have recently been modernised. We had a dog friendly room, and there was absolutely no sign of previous dogs staying. The jewel in the crown was the food. I genuinely don't think I've had such lovely food, our evening meal was lovely, service great. Our breakfast really exceeded our expectations. The only negative, ( I don't blame the hotel for this) was unfortunately we had really noisy, inconsiderate neighbours, in adjoining room that seemed to spend the entire night talking and unfortunately the walls definitely didn't block out the noise. As a result our sleep wasn't as good as we hoped it would be.

Strange hotel as all the rooms are in buildings around the rear of the building. No staff on duty until after 3pm. The rooms are adequate and clean, the meals are on the expensive side but are still only bar meals.

We had a great stay at the Inn. Staff were very tentative. The room was clean, although felt it was a bit small. Suggest do away with coffee machine and give biscuits instead ? We had evening meal which was fantastic. Although tv being switched off in the lounge and table decor being removed while guests still there long before closing time felt like being rushed away. Was expecting the hoover to come out.. Breakfast was extremely good and set us up for the day.

We had a great stay at the hotel, we booked it using a my hotel break voucher we received for Christmas, we wanted a hotel close to St Andrews and this fit the bill perfectly. The check in process was great, the staff were very friendly and helpful, the room itself was big and had everything we needed including a coffee machine, which as a big coffee fan was appreciated. I couldn't get the bathroom heater on, but as it wasn't too cold we decided to leave it, the heating in the rest of the room was very good. We had a great sleep so no concerns around the bed being comfy. The food was lovely, my husband and I could have had pretty much anything from the menu as there was so much choice, the options we did go for were amazing, they were well presented and tasted fantastic. I actually had 3 courses which is very unusual for me, but it was just so good. We also had drinks at the bar and my long island iced tea tasted perfect, just the right amount of cola in it. There was plenty of choice at breakfast and something to suit everyone, the food was great and we thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast. The only small issue was we were early for our breakfast as we decided to get out and about earlier than planned, we had to a little while for someone to be available to take our order, but I as they were expecting us a little later it wasn't a big issue and the food and service were great. I would recommend the hotel, the overall service was excellent and friendly and the food was very very good.

Rooms ok .Needing decoration. Bathroom in need of upgrade mould round bath and shower screen and chips out of bath. Service on arrival was very good and evening meal was lovely . Staff at breakfast had dirty apron on very off putting when serving food .service from him not so good on and breakfast plate had a lot of oil when served so much so couldn’t eat it and had to ask for extra toast . Wouldn’t return .

A most enjoyable stay at Inn at Lathones: clean, cosy room with all necessary facilities - especially appreciated during a cold winter stay. We stayed on a Dinner Bed & Breakfast rate and loved our dinner on both nights, plus a hearty, generous breakfast each morning. There is plenty of quality choice on both dinner and breakfast menus and it is obvious that chef, Kenny, really cares about what appears on guests' plates: he is much appreciated by us! Also appreciated is Lorna and her team who were warm, friendly and professional and made our stay a truly hospitable one. Indeed, Lorna was so helpful on the phone before we even arrived. Sincere thanks to All - we shall definitely return!

Booked this a belated Anniversary break, was a bit more expensive than what I would usually pay but I had money given from a gift so I went ahead and booked, only to find out I had dinner on both nights so that made it even better The staff were brilliant especially Jack( I think that was his name) Nothing was too much for him, reception bar dining he was always there with a smile and answered any questions we had The room was large cosy and clean, bed massive and comfy and not the usual small bathroom but room to move The food in the dining room was very tasty and a big menu to choose from, breakfast had more choices than I’ve seen before I will definitely be back and recommend to anyone who’s interested xxx

The Inn at Lathones was a gem. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The television and internet service is excellent The food was great and very reasonably priced. The beer and wine selection is extensive. And last but not least, all the staff were helpful, friendly and efficient.
