We had stayed at this hotel before, several years ago. We knew it was a fairly old building and that was fine. The staff were very pleasant and helpful, room was fine and cosy. However…breakfast. What can I say? The ‘full English’ was meagre to say the least and I am still not over the shock of seeing they only placed a HALF slice of black pudding. Really? Surely things can’t be so bad that they can’t manage to give guests a full slice? Since I don’t eat eggs it meant my ‘plate’ was very small, also not helped by the fact I didn’t even get the mushrooms one morning. I didn’t want to make a fuss but in hindsight I feel it is something that needs to be addressed. Come on York Pavilion, serve a proper full English!

Very old fashioned hotel but spotlessly clean Not suitable if you have difficulty with stairs as our room was about 3 flights up Only other comment would be it’s a bit out of York

Good hotel, breakfast very good, just out of town on the bus route to York centre, you can walk if your feeling fit not that far.

Very basic room with bathroom which desperately needed modernising . Although fairly clean . Miles to walk along little corridors up flights of stairs (don’t have a heavy case !) Breakfast was lovely although evening meal very basic and would not eat there again . Staff very pressed but polite . Be aware there are no usb charging points at all so we had to zoom around looking for chargers at night . Reception staff not interested at all . My friend left her coat and was charged £10 to get it back Unnecessary to charge this !! The hotel could be good but do hang points to improve on . Would not return

Spent 2 nights in this charming hotel with husband. Room was lovely, bit tired but quirky with exposed beams and original features. Very quiet with a view overlooking courtyard. Staff were polite, helpful and attentive in the bar and at breakfast time. Didn’t have evening meal in hotel so can’t comment on the food. Great base to explore York which was a 30 minute walk by the river into centre of York. Would stay again.

Had a lovely stay with a very nice disabled room,only thing was the shower curtain,it would have been better if it had reached the floor. I did have a word with the under manager,it would save an accident waiting to happen,but it really was a lovely room, food was lovely &hot, will definitely stay again.thank you

Lovely hotel, fantastic staff, lovely room, we were in room 10, very nice and clean. 30 minutes to walk into the centre of York. Great breakfast too.

Stayed here for a 2 night break at the weekend. What a lovely hotel, lovely rooms, clean and comfortable beds, lovely breakfast. Staff more than helpful and very pleasant. Bus stop literally outside the hotel, less than 10 mins into York, good service too. I will definitely be back. Fabulous.

Got a good deal. Very nice hotel , very clean and tidy, immaculately dressed staff who were very friendly. Good breakfast with lots of options. Good sized room with a bath& shower. Bus stop both ways very close and good pub The plough over the road..

Couldn't fault staff BUT hotel needs improvement, had to change rooms as first was totally inadequate, dirty bathroom, freezing cold, bed dipped in middle in second room, door handle hanging off, toilet flshed on 4th attempt, breakfast undercooked, wasn't informed about restaurant closure before we arrived and parking charge of £10 per 24hrs or partial was extortionate, talked to duty manager who was pleasant and said he'd be intouch....he hasn't....very disappointing experience

Lovely hotel, conveniently situated on a short bus ride away from the city centre. Comfortable rooms. Attentive, pleasant staff. Breakfast was great with something for everyone. Will definitely book there again.

Spent a very comfortable 4 nights with my husband earlier this month. Had a ground floor room in a quiet area, in a courtyard just outside the main hotel. Breakfast had a good choice of foods, staff were very helpful. A thoroughly enjoyable stay.
