Lovely hotel with plenty of character. Staff were very helpful and polite. Food good and the deal we had was excellent value for money. We walked into York from the hotel along the river bank in approx 20 minutes, but could of got the bus from across the road from the hotel. Stayed here before and will be staying again.

Arrived at 15.00 as room was supposed to be available from then. We were told there was a problem with the rooms linen and could we go and come back at 17.00. When we arrived back we were told that the room still wasn't available but we could wait in the bar. 2 hours later,19.00, ( during which time we were offered one free drink ) we were finally given a room (which incidentally looked nothing like the room pictures). We were booked for evening meal which could best be described as average and disappointing. The hotel currently has scaffolding all over the front, including outside our tiny window and therefore looks nothing like its pictures. We also had a problem with the toilet in the bathroom which decided to malfunction which meant it wouldn't flush and noisily filled all night. this meant we had to leave the room and use the one downstairs. Fortunately we were only there one night. One to forget. The only redeeming figure were the staff, who were very friendly. I have never written a bad review before but this was a bit of a disaster, Shame as it was my partners birthday.

We stayed for 2 nights with the £99 voucher for each night. The room was very clean but a bit small. We had to advise the dinning staff that we were on a voucher deal and what the deal included. A member of the staff has handling the forks by the prongs when setting the tables and we had to ask for cutlery for the main course as only 1set was on the table. Service was very slow and items missed on both breakfast and dinner service. There seemed to be a lack of staff on all occasions. No draught beer available at the bar. On the second night the manager in charge did comp the drinks but by that time me we left an went to the pub across the way. On checking out the receptionist asked if we had any feedback so we advised her of our thoughts and that we were still due 2 bottles of wine from the voucher deal which she got the manager to get them for us. Not sure if this was a result of just opening again after lockdown but will think twice about returning

We booked a break for something to look forward to after Christmas and we were not disappointed. The staff were welcoming and helpful. The room was lovely and the food was delicious. There was ample free parking and we were allowed to leave our car after check out to get the local bus into the centre of York. We had a lovely leisurely walk back from York instead of waiting for the bus to return to the hotel as it was not as far away as we had expected. We highly recommend this hotel

Great venue. Staff very friendly and helpful. The food was beautiful. We couldn't fault it. Only shame is that we can't book to go again to this hotel as Best Western York are no longer on this website ?

Excellent, friendly staff, good value, nice meals well served in pleasant restaurant. Particularly enjoyed residents lounge with roaring log fire for post-prandial relax and read of the supplied papers.Incidentally, that's where we also enjoyed our tea and cream scones on arrival.

was lovely but not as lovely as first time we came , breakfast was from a help yourself buffet and eggs were scrambled and no beans , black pudding or mushrooms left , however setting eas lovely as usual and i realise it was a busy time

Warm welcome from lady on reception, Room comfortable, Friendly staff nothing too much trouble even though they had a wedding with over 100 guests and a Christmas party with another 60 guests

Found hotel very cold.parking was hard no spaces left when we arrived.we were on a deal that included scones & coffee on arrival but weren't offered it. On the whole though was good for the money and would stay again we walked into York about half hour each way

Beautiful hotel the room was lovely everything there you could want. Just 2 things when checked in we was never offered the afternoon tea that was included and i had to ask later about the evening meal that was included also. The meal at night and the breakfast was great and again had lots of choices.

Very good value excellent service from reception to waiting staff and bar staff, our meals were very nice couldn't fault it, we were given a small double to start with whicfortunately would have been too small we asked reception if they had any other rooms available with a bigger bed or twin which was resolved with no fuss, we would highly recommend and looking forward to our return.
