Receptionist was polite on arrival and checked us in although our complimentary upgrade was not offered until I inquired about it. There was no problem and we were upgraded and our bubbly was moved to our room. The room (111) was a good size with a large light bathroom although both were 'tired '. We constantly had doors slamming as it was next to the cleaning room even early in the morning. The restaurant didn't have our reservation when we went for our meal but found us a table immediately. They explained there was a large party due in for a meal so we rushed to get our order in. The party arrived early and the restaurant became noisy and everyone seemed rushed off their feet. The meal was nice and the waitress was lovely and kept apologising to us. The breakfast menu had a large choice of cereal and hot food although we ate at 8am and some of the hot choices were only warm. All this said the bed was comfortable and the staff were nice and friendly.

My apologies if you felt rushed at dinner that is the last thing we would want, however, on the flip side the staff obviously did not want any delays with the large group coming into eat. Not happy with dinner menu did not have full range that was stated . Staff friendly and helpful room was clean but very hot can do with fan to keep cool , breakfast was spot on plenty of choice can't fault it .

Average hotel which requires refurbishment and updating of facilities. Room very warm with limited air flow. Suited our overnight purpose.

The rooms unfortunately do not have air conditioning but fans are available upon request and I would hope that ones was brought to you if you asked. Terrible hotel room was filthy . The only good comment were the staff were all lovely. The housekeeper is in bad need of retraining.

We only stayed at the hotel for one night .it was ok .but if we had booked a longer stay we would have asked to change room as the one we had had a really bad smell of cigarette smoke in the bathroom

Thank you for your review my apologies about the smell of smoke, we do state no smoking but unfortunately some of our guests ignore this and despite the best efforts of the Housekeeping team, the smell can hang around. Hotel really nice, staff great, food great, my only dissapointment was the level of noise coming from the pub across the ally from our room as we did not get to sleep until 0.200 . I mentioned this when leaving and the hotel were aware about this problem yet still put us in this area. It ruined a good break.

Food and wine in the restaurant at night was very good, as was the service however come breakfast time, food and service was not the best. We have stayed in quite a few hotels and are not in the least fussy but can honestly say that breakfast was one of the worst we have had. Hence my scoring is lowerthan it should be.

We offer a large range of continental and cooked along with a selection of dishes that can be ordered from the kitchen. Excellent stay. First class service from all staff, from manager down. Evening meal was superb. Unfortunately same cannot be said for breakfast. Food was extremely cold. Staff were quick to respond and all food removed. Regretably reheating by microwave was totally unsatisfactory. Couple of small issues re room. Shower head was loose and control difficult to operate. Notwithstanding these minor issues our stay at Hallmark Carlisle was very enjoyable and we will certainly make use again on another occasion.

We had requested a bedroom with a walk in shower because of walking difficutiesthe bathroom wwas very clean however the shower cabinet needed mould and millder remover to cleanseveral black marks in the corners. More importantly there was only one grab rail at the entranceto the shower with no rail inside. Not good practice we pointed these two matters out when paying our bill. Food and service was very good it was disapointing that the dinner menu was the same on each evening with no chef Specials although this was advertised. When asking for the "Special" we were told this was the menu in all Hallmark Hotels!!!

waited half an hour for first course (only three tables dining) and had to send back steak - tough, tough- for a three pound reduction in price. why the chef served the steak beats me !!!

All our food is prepared fresh to order so sometimes things can take time even when only a few tables dining. The steak I can only apologisse Chef did mention this to me and we have since spoken to the supplier about the quality and we are now monitoring this situation. We have stayed at the Hallmark Hotel numerous times and we enjoy it very much. The only criticism I have is that the decor in the rooms could do with a "freshen up". The bar area is relaxing and welcoming, also the food is lovely in the Restaurant.

The room booked was a superior room, but in other equivilant star rated hotels it was nowhere near as good. there was no leasure facilities. Making the hotel, on a like for like basis a little over priced. However the location, staff, and food was excellent and overall our stay was very enjoyable.

hallmark hotel in my opinion is not deserving of 4 star rating. bedroom unbearably hot. 45 minute wait for awful dinner is not acceptable.

Enjoyed our stay in the hotel but the location wasn't good for us due to the noise outside late at night and into the early hours. The hotel was excellent though - lovely bedroom - really friendly helpful staff - food was good too.
