Back for a re-visit within a month so they are doing plenty right still! £135 for2 for the 2 night mid week DBB:- It's a GOOD DEAL! Some mishaps still to keep it interesting; upon checking in allocated room 39 which is a super room with a firm mattress bed. Unfortunately it was raining heavily enough for the nearby blocked gutter to pour down and rat-tat-tat off roof slates below so got changed to room 28:-OK room until discovering that the mattress is softer than a cheap marshmallow....Lousy night of poor sleep. No change the mattress option so change the room??? Offered alternatives but the mattresses were just as soft.... wound up back in 39 and yes, it rained the next morning...... One other dare I say "gripe" Dogs in the main hotel! I thought they were meant to be in Annexe rooms? However I don't appreciate them barking at daft o'clock nor dog hair on the carpets..... Nor in the restaurant.... One novel incident:- the bat flying in at 01.55..... Seems funny now!

We were on a 2 night D.B.B. What a Wonderful Hotel, Great Staff...Great Food...Great Location...Good Rooms.... The Staff were all lovely and very Helpful, they couldn't do enough to make your stay unforgettable, The location beside the river and the little Ducklings that came to the side door in the morning was a bonus.

Stayed at Killin hotel for 2 nights on a DBB deal. Our room was a bit on the small side, Compared to our friends room.. Rooms had tv, hairdryer, and tea and coffee. Rooms where clean and tidy. Nice soft towels in bathroom. Could not fault the staff. Always very helpful and cheerful. The food was excellent. Good portions and well presented. All in all an excellent stay. Would defiantly go back.

Stay at hotel was good apart from dining room service. Service for dinner and breakfast on the first night was good, but unfortunately service at dinner on the second night was not satisfactory (we had to request attention after a considerable wait between courses) and service during breakfast on our last morning was non existent as we were never asked what we would like for breakfast from the kitchen even though there was at least three waiting staff on duty. I am disabled and use two sticks and rely on others to assist me in carrying items. Just as well I was not alone.

Initially I was given a room in the hotel when I had booked the annex. However No hesitation in moving to annex but room unsuitable as I had asked for a king size bed if poss and the room only had twin beds. Moved back to hotel and shown another room which once again had twin beds. When I mentioned this was supposed to be a special treat for my husbands birthday I was given another room which had a four poster bed (very nice gesture!).

Beautiful setting and great food but unfortunately that's where it ends. Untrained staff and absolutely chaotic service. Walk ins on Saay night got preferential treatment over paying guests. I was asked to choose something else from the desert menu because the chef was too busy to prepare a cheeseboard????? Left standing for ten minutes at breakfast waiting to be seated. Dreadfully noisy plumbing and walls were paper thin between rooms. Would not recommend this hotel and would not stay here again.

I was going to send an e-mail anyway on my return. On my arrival at the hotel even though I had a confirmed reservation in my hand I was not booked into the hotel. Luckily there was a room available although not what i required. I had booked this deal specifically because it was an annexe room attached to the hotel, as my wife has some mobility issues and did not want to be in an upstairs room which we ended up in. We were both extremely disappointed in this and it did spoil our stay a in what was a nice little hotel in a lovely setting. Due to the above I would be extremely apprehensive about booking through myhotel break.com in the future

Snapped up this midweek 2 night deal; 2 nights DBB for £135 and "What's NOT to be happy about it"? Killin is a great location for Loch Tay and the Trossachs sight seeing and a bit of hill walking. We ventured to Ben Lawers and Schiehallion... The price was a bit of a bargain for the entire package. The hotel is quaint enough, tartan carpets, wood panels, big airy conservatory/bistro, our room fine albeit a very compact en-suite. The 3 course meals were better than expected but not surprisingly there are a fair few supplements on the menu for the usual suspects. To me the desserts were a bit disappointing compared to the starters and mains. Portions were generous but it was a bit chaotic the Monday night as the restaurant was rather busy. Breakfast in the "tartan room" was adequate unless you want a total buffet pig out. (Quite a few do!) All the staff were very pleasant and accommodating. Happy to endorse the Killin Hotel based upon the deal we got! The free Wi-Fi was also a bit hit and miss but it is in the hills and glens.....

We arrived on the Friday late afternoon and able to check in straight away. The lady on the desk was charming. Our room was in the annexe just to the right of the front door of the hotel so just a couple of steps away. The room was large L shaped and comfortably furnished. The only thing I would say would help would have been a coffee table or a couple of side tables as there are two settees and a tv that is on a movable arm, but nowhere to put down a cup or drink when sitting watching tv. The door to the annexe room was very hard to close and lock, and although we asked the man on the desk the next day about it he was insistent that because it was a lever lock door, they were all stiff. After a few minutes, we decided to just leave that one as he just kept saying they are all hard to close as if we were a bit dense! Anyway, we went for the evening meal, 3 course and could not fault it at all. There was nothing that wasn't cooked to perfection that we had and the staff that served us both evenings were so very helpful. The second night when we went in for our dinner we were met by a wall of chattering drinking people who were all rammed up towards the bar, which also happens to be the little bit you need to go through to get to the dining area. Once past the noise and people, it was much better, and again the meal and its presentation were faultless. The two mornings we had breakfast, it was again delicious locally sourced produce cooked to perfection. No grease on our plates at all, just beautifully cooked and presented food. There were fresh fruits, cereals, porridge and toast that you help yourself to. One unusual and very welcomed thing was the tea and coffee. Instead of asking for tea, you helped yourself to a pot of tea or coffee. This meant you could have any sort of strength of tea and there were lots of different types as well. Wonderful. My other observation is that the window of our room (which was ground level) faced into a rear courtyard which was in a dreadful state. old boats, trailers, vans that had weeds growing up and around them and clearly not moved for a long time. A place where old unwanted things are taken to die. For the sake of a days work this could be easily tidied up and a few half barrels filled with evergreen shrubs and flowers or some trellis, would make a huge difference. This courtyard also houses a run of garages which are quite nice painted white stone with black doors, so with a bit of thought these could be very pleasant to look at. Killin itself has a number of interesting little shops, cafes, pharmacy and post office. There are a couple of other well known eateries in the village which its reported also sell lovely food, but because we were so full on our breakfasts, were too full for lunch at all so didnt get to sample other foods. The falls of Dochart are about a 10 minute walk from the hotel and there's an old mill with working water wheel too. A very pleasant place to stay for a couple of nights and we would definitely like to go back again.

The food, service and location were first class and we told the manager this on departure. One issue that was less satisfactory was the plumbing. The system is old and not really able to cope with lots of people taking showers at the same time resulting in us having to forego that luxury on a couple of occasions. We did mention this but didn't really get a satisfactory answer. Despite this we would definitely return, what a lovely place Killin is!
