We had an excellent 4 day break at The Columba Hotel in Inverness. Everything was brilliant, apart from the hotel being extremely cold. I appreciate that the weather was cold, and the building is old, but we have visited this hotel on several occasions, at different times of the year, have never known it as cold as it was this time.

My husband and I were greeted by a extremely pleasant receptionist on arrival and checking in was very easy. Our room, although very clean, as was the toilet/shower-room, was very much on the dull side, even with the lights on. Heating is controllable and the room heated up relatively quickly, we arrived when there was a cold wind blowing. Food was a bit of an issue with my husband as he is vegetarian and choices were fairly limited. The chef though did make dinner freshly for him. Staff shortages meant we were in the bar for a total of two hours from the first course to third on our first night. Breakfast was a little less of an issue as my husband opted for cereal and toast rather than be seen to be "awkward". As I've said, cleanliness was excellent, but oh how tired the hotel looks from the inside, and would benefit greatly if the owners spent some money on it. The wonderful wrought iron Victorian balustrades that edge the balconies are in a sad state of repair, such a shame, fully restored they would be a real eye catcher for a building in a prime situation in Inverness. All in all though, our stay was enjoyable and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful.

First time here in twenty years. Room could do with a makeover. Not told restaurant closed when we arrived and after standing around at restaurant I went to reception to be told dining was in MacNabs. Other than that it was a pleasant stay. Staf friendly

4th visit but probably the last, enjoyed first 3 visits, but not this time, booked 2 nights dinner, set menu, mains dinners where all cooked with butter my wife has allergy to butter, from straight off when arriving informed staff about this, nothing done i also asked if they could just give my wife like a burger and chips off there other menu, no starter and no dessert, was told if we did this we would need to pay the bar menu price, it was only £11 on menu and she was not having set meal instead which was more expensive, last few visits they have accomodated us, breakfast was ok, but as not many eating diinner, dinner was in bar, ody told us and we waited 15 at restaurant to be seated with another couple then i went to bar to ask and was told it was in bar, restaurant staff nice but bar and reception staff didn't have a clue,

We enjoyed our stay at the Columba as we had stayed here before. It is so central and close to the town centre. Staff were really nice and friendly despite being very busy. Food was good however breakfast was a little disappointing - felt there could have been more choice - fresh fruit salad and wider range of yogurts. Room was clean and acceptable however no bath - only a shower. Overall good value for money

Hotel itself is nice although room was small but had everything we required, comfy bed, tea/coffee etc. Bathroom was not the best could be done with renovating. Staff (bar) were nice enough, food was nice, buffet breakfast was delicious. We stayed fri12th & sat 13th all was fine until early hours of sunday morning when the hotel had no water! We were a party of 14 with 8 rooms & only 1 room had running water! At breakfast the staff member was rude when asked abouer, we were advised the water came back on at 8am but at breakfast 09.30 again only 1 of our rooms had water, we were advised it would take a while to get to all rooms? We did not have access to toilet facility or running water before checkout! A friend in another room was in the shower when her water went off, reception brought up 4 bottles of water to get soap off! I have been in contact with the manager who has since apologized & offered a 25% refund however i do not feel that is adequate. Would i stay here again… No due to water issues & the staffs lack of interest which is a shame as it is a nice hotel and central to the local amenities

Nice hotel, but lots to be improved on. Reception staff great, however customer service of restaurant manager especially and staff within the hotel leaves a lot to be desired as definitely require training.

The rooms were very good, the food was excellent, the only fault we had was trying to get a drink, at one point we had to go looking for the staff to get served

The hotel needs a bit of a spruce up on the exterior weeds growing out entrance. Food was good but service left a lot to be desired. This was the same in the bar with the exception of a girl from Stirling who was very helpful. Took 20 minutes to place the order and another to be served. Rooms are a bit dated but comfortable enough.

We had a lovely weekend. Our room was clean and comfy but looked onto a brick wall. They would have moved us but were full for the first time since reopening. The staff were friendly and helpful although they were quite short staffed as they were still recruiting after lockdown. Dinners were fine and full breakfast was really nice. The service was pretty fast and Covid restrictions were in place. Great value for money

Had a lovely 2night break at Columba Hotel Inverness. Booked through myhotelbreak.com 2nights B&B, dinner on first night & a bottle of fizz in the room. All for £129! Fantastic value for money ?Room was lovely & clean, ceiling light not working in the first room so we’re moved to another room which was as lovely as first room with a bigger bed so bonus ? We would definitely stay again.

Having been to the hotel a couple of years ago we were a bit disappointed with the room we had a very small double looking out to a flat roof which housed pigeons and seagulls, the room itself needed a lot of tlc broken floor tile and light above mirror in bathroom furniture chipped in various places quilt cover threadbare in a couple of places. The food was good and COVID restrictions adhered to. Would maybe go back if the hotel had an upgrade.
