Got a great deal at this hotel, b&b plus dinner on one night of our two night stay. The evening meal in the hotels main dining room was average, would have liked to have the choice to eat in their adjoining bar with a better selection of meals.The dining room lacked a bit of atmosphere, the breakfasts were really good, help yourself to as much as you want, the rooms need a bit of updating, bed was very comfortable, room was lovely and warm. Staff very helpful and friendly.

We had a lovely room, spacious, and with a well laid-out en-suite. Breakfast was good and the staff were friendly and efficient. Unfortunately, dinner in the 'bistro' was a real disappointment. Service was very slow, and they appeared to be understaffed. My starter was over cooked, my main had luke warm vegetables and undercooked potatoes, My partner had bland soup and tasteess fish, although the batter and chips were good. The puddings were good, but spoiled by slow service again. My recommendation would be to stay here, but eat somewhere else.

On arriving at hotel we were allocated room 316 the kettle continued to boil after switching off! .we reported this straight away at reception as this was a danger to anyuone that didn't pull out the plug. On checking out after our stay the kettle still hadn't been replaced. I had a coffee in the macnabs bistro one evening and it was stone cold, the waiter wsd too busy speaking to another guest whilst serving .the bathroom had no vent in it and the window had condensation running down .

We enjoyed a very nice stay here, visiting out son who is working in the area. The staff were very good and helpful. The service in the bar and restaurant was also very good. My only criticism would be the cost for my Lagavulin, £7.40, come on guys! I only chose that because I had never tasted it before, had I known the price I would have chosen the Bowmore at £4.80. Bowmore is one I like and in my humble opinion a far superior single malt.

had 2 night break at the Columba 1st July.Dinner on Friday night was totally disgusting,returned it twice,which was very surprising as there were only 4 tables occupied in the full restaurant.Room was fine albeit i think we were the highest and furthest away from reception(322) breakfast and hotel pleasant enough.

Hotel rooms a bit tired looking. Breakfast was a bit disappointing with bacon very overlooked, sausages tasteless and tea and coffee not nearly hot enough - could not have been boiling the water. Our meal on Friday night was very good so it was a bit of a shame that breakfast was not up to same standard.

Stayed two nights. Clean, comfortable room (223) bit on the small side, but with a recently renovated bathroom. Food in the bistro was okay - nothing startling - but good enough. Breakfast was standard hotel fare, but plentliful and serving dishes topped up regularly. Public areas all in need of modernisation/renovation, but given that the hotel is constantly busy I guess this could prove difficult.

Room and bedding clean but overall a very tired hotel. Problem with shower in room 126 which was partially resolved. Excellent breakfast, but a very mediocre evening meal in restaurant, think the bistro would be a better option.

Had a most enjoyable stay here with two friends. The hotel is very comfortable and the food excellent. The staff was friendly and efficient, the Polish waitress particularly so. I would gladly recommend it..

We had a very comfortable and relaxing stay. Our bedroom was very clean had everything we required and bathroom/shower were lovely. No complaints. We have stayed many times before and can recommend this hotel.

first class break at the columba hotel, friendly helpful staff, very obliging , espically young gentleman at reception who deserves a special mention who offered to have our luggage taken up to our room and collected from our room on day of departure, not many hotel would go to the bother of this it was most appreciated and must thank all concered
