had a wonderful 2 night stay.staff very friendly and accomodating.service at meals ran like a swiss watch.only one small thing of note.we stayed in superior room 52 and the double glazed units are misted up spoiling the outlook.a small point but would make a big difference if replaced.i would recommend and return again.

We stayed at the Esplanade 3 years ago and enjoyed our stay so booked again wish we hadn't I had booked an upgrade to a see view we were given a room on the lower floor couldn't see much of the sea more of the gardens, the room had a bed which was against a wall so would have had to climb over to get to toilet at night. We were moved to another room which was definitely not an upgrade. We left after the first day as the food was like school dinners and very small portions. I think this hotel caters more for bus parties than individual guests. We were offered by the manager on leaving to get in touch and he would give us a deal later don't think so wasted enough money.

Just back from Easter break at Esplanade Hotel Dunnon - it was fabulous - room had recently been refurbished, food was good, staff and management were great - thoroughly recommend it

Nicely decorated rooms, pity about the views at the back of the hotel - very messy neighbours! Service was first class, didn't eat dinner in hotel but breakfast was nice - not self service so cooked to order.

My Husband and I visited for one night with elderly mother-in-law. Staff at the hotel could not have been nicer or more helpful -especially Minaj (hope spelling is OK) the manager, who ensured we had adjoining spacious rooms with lovely views. Rooms were comfortable and clean. The food is not quite as high class as some hotels but it was tasty and plentiful. The hotel itself is a bit higgledy piggleday due to its age and extensions but we found it excellent and would be happy to return again. There was entertainment on the night we stayed which added to our enjoyment.We also preferred the night time quiet which is much better than sister hotel 'the Argyll' which can get street noise.

Remarkable value for money! From the moment we checked in the staff were very helpful and courteous, every thing about this hotel was top class. In conversation with everyone up to the manager they were interested in what we had to say, truly a gem of a hotel, not often you can say that if anything the excellent food came in over generous portions!!

My wife and I stayed from 9-12 August and found the hotel very comfortable, the staff were all very pleasant and nicely turned out. Staff in the dining room were very attentive and made sure that everything was right during our stay. As I suffer from Coeliac the staff made sure that anything I required food wise was organised for me. As much as i would have liked the bed to be a little longer it was comfortable, We would stay here again and recommend to friends

Hotel, Food and Staff all 1st class - we were in bedrooms 14 and 16 which were just newly decorated - nice bathroom with shower. Hotel only 7 mins walk into town centre. Had a great 3 days break.

First time at the Esplanade but we'll definitely be back! Super location with great sea views and very friendly staff who did their utmost to make you feel welcome. Room spacious and very clean albeit decor and furnishings need modernising (bed valances would improve appearance and hide worn bases) Lounge area and sun terrace have stunning views over the sea and very well kept garden area. Great to sit out and enjoy the sea air with a cool drink or a coffee. Stayed on midweek DBB package - good variety of 5 course set menu dinner choices, generous portions. Single sitting for dinner at 7p.m. results in crowded dining room but waiter service is quick and well organised. Car parking space is limited - hotel is accessed via a twisty one way street. We were lucky as most other guests with coach party but this could be a problem if lots of car owners staying. Easy access on foot to centre of Dunoon via promenade directly in front of hotel so we only used car when exploring further afield. Overall this was a good value break
