Lovely old hotel in need of a bit of TLC but very charming. Staff were excellent, friendly and informative. Beautiful location, even in the rain. Will definitely go back Highlight was seeing the Bannockburn Room in the hotel.

The staff were very professional and friendly. The hotel is most definitely in need of refurbishment but the rooms were clean and provided all we needed. The food was great for the bargain price, wouldn't have been happy had we paid more.

I had a lovely weekend break at Peebles Hydro, all staff very helpful, especially Daniel, who I think was the Restaurant Manager.

The beautiful old building is showing its age. But I understand there are new owners, I hope they can restore / upgrade the building, grounds and rooms. The bedroom was comfortable, the bathroom was functional but dated (1970/80s). The shower warm not hot, yet the hot tap was hot. The dining room, along with other rooms were expansive, lovely. The hotel has so much to offer. One small complaint. Not a show stopper. The veg served with the main course wasn't the best. I like my cauli warm, crisp and tasty, not cold, watery and bland.

We really enjoyed our weekend break. The room and toilet were spotless and was very quiet at night. The leisure suite was brilliant and the food was excellent.

Staff were very friendly and helpful, leisure facilities are excellent. Hotel is tired bedroom was very basic . Dinner was ok best described as pub grub and I feel this let the hotel down more than everything . However I do know that there is extensive renovations happening and I hope the food aspect is addressed. I will possibly visit again after refurbishment to give it another chance.

We enjoyed our stay at Peebles Hydro. One thing which was strange was there was no marmalade at breakfast. We also feel they need to put handrails on the outside stairs leading down to the grounds as they are rather steep

Our booking condition was to get the best available room on arrival. The hotel did not honour this. Our 3 day break was to celebrate my 70th birthday. We e-mailed in advance to ask if we could possibly have a front facing room to mark this occasion. The hotel replied that we would receive such a room if one was available. At check in we were given a room at the back of the hotel. My wife asked if there was a front room available. The clerk, without being too responsive, spent some time on her computer and in the end gave us a front room at the top of the hotel. The room was nice and comfortable and of a good size. The bathroom was large and well appointed. Whilst we were not expecting special favours it would have been nice if a member of staff had at least wished me happy birthday. The food on the whole was good, very good breakfast with good choice. Dinner also very good apart from day 1 when we had the Chef's Signature Dish. Frankly this was what you would expect from a seaside cafe, We knew then what to avoid on the menu. Any doubts about that were laid to rest on day 2 when we heard the gentleman on the next table remark to the waitress that his (Chef's Signature Dish) lamb shank was stringy. (N.B. hotel should only identify food as Chef's Signature if it really is going to be nicely memorable.) The hotel is dated and showing signs of its age but it is in new ownership and will improve. It is much better than its Trip Advisor reviews would suggest and prospective customers should not be put off by these. Whilst we were happy with our stay and our accomodation (in the end) we don't believe that we were given the best room available on the day - their offer after all. This was a disappointment but it won't prevent us from returning.

The head waiter had a very surly attitude; the after dinner service of coffee/tea on Sunday night, was non existent, very unprofessional. The view from the bedrooms, tremendous, thanks to Classic Britain's best available room policy.

Just a wee bit disappointed with hair and beauty service and not getting a drink in the lounge at 6.45pm because we were told that service there finished at 6.00pm. Given that it is the Crieff Hydro that has taken over this hotel, I feel that there are improvements that the management will certainly attend to.

We enjoyed our stay at the Peebles Hydro. It was a good value deal. However we were disappointed with the quality of the food and the portion sizes. The official price on the menu for dinner was 25 pounds and I definitely would not think it was worth that. Bedroom as lovely but on a very warm day the heating was turned up on its highest setting. The room stayed very warm even though we turned the radiator off. We used the pool but there was too much chlorine in it so we could not stay in long. The staff were all friendly and helpful.

We stayed on the B & B with dinner on first night deal, unfortunately the meal was very average, I would say it was like a 'coach party' meal. Was glad we only had one night booked for dinner. The weather was lovely, a nice outside seating area would have been welcomed rather than sitting on a bench with our drinks on the ground. The grounds are beautiful and the views fantastic. The leisure facilities were good, gym was well equipped. The bedroom was ok although very warm. I would stay here again but only on a B & B basis.

Dinner in the hotel was very good but the service was poor. The staff all disappeared for as least 10min so there was no one to clear the up. Our bedroom was looking a bit tired.

Overall a decent hotel but a plan for upgrading of rooms and overall hotel is planned...... And definitely required . Hotel is a bit tired looking , but service and food are both excellent ! Staff hard working .. Professional ... Courteous . I took ill whilst there so we had to leave early , I wasn't charged for second night.... Very good reception staff ! Thanks .

We have just returned from our stay at the Peebles Hydro although the Hote was good. We found the food to be very disappointing. The dinner in the main restuarants was very bland. When decided to order breakfast in bed for the following morning and again found the full Scottish breakfast to quite poor to say the lease. When we checked out the hotel were more interested in get our account paid rather than asking us how our stay was. At which point we would have complained regarding the poor quality of the good in the hotel.

We had a lovely stay at Peebles Hydro, the staff were all fantastic very helpful and friendly. We upgraded to a superior room which was really nice, the view from the room was beautiful. We booked an evening meal and a cooked breakfast and were both equally as nice although limited choice on the dinner. The leasure complex we used and enjoyed all in all we had a fantastic time and would recommend this hotel.Only down side is the hotel is getting very dated and for the money we spent would expect slightly more modern bathroom in the room. Also the mobile phone and internet coverage is very weak.

We had a nice relaxing break at Peebles Hydro.Food, service and leisure facilities were excellent. The only small criticism i would have is as the Hotel was not full i don't think we got "Best available room" as having stayed there on previous visits we have been given a bigger and better bedroom.

My wife and I were very disappointed with our stay. When we arrived, our room wasn't ready for us. We sat down in the lobby and nobody came over to tell us when it was ready - I had to keep asking at Reception. Our bedroom was like walking into a time warp from the 1980s. The beds were comfortable enough but the decor was awful. Just to finish us off, there was no hot water in the bathroom in the morning. The dinner was poor. The starters and desserts had clearly been kept in a fridge overnight and heated in a microwave. The vegetables, particularly the cauliflower, were raw. I had the seabass which was average. My wife had the lamb which was pink and uncooked. She sent it back and it came out about 2 minutes later - the microwave had done the business again. The breakfast was your run of the mill buffet. The cooked breakfast was again very average at best. The leisure facilities were the only enjoyable part of our stay with a big pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi. The hotel is located in a beautiful setting but unfortunately it is shabby in both decor, service and food.
