The stay was excellent from pressing the bell for the car park until we left. Wonderful value for money and service provided by staff at all areas of the hotel and of which you should feel extremely proud. We would recommend your hotel not only to our friends and family but anyone looking for a quality break in a great location.

My wife and I have just returned from our break at the Crown and Mitre.The hotel is situated in the middle of Carlisle right in the middle of the shops and restaurants.The food was excellent and the dining room staff were very good.Parking is free and very secure.We will return to this hotel in the future.

Although a bit dated and in need of upgrading staff were excellent and food very good Only complaint bed was a bit uncomfortable mattress badly needing renewed.

A last minute booking for a special occasion was the reason for the stay. We arrived to what looked like a very busy hotel. The car park is very hard to find even with the correct postcode and a sat nav. It was very full but the guy who opened the locked gate moved car to let us in. Reception where under pressure as the computer system had gone down. But we where soon served by a polite woman. Who informed me that we had been given the bridal suite or as the hotel call it the carliol suite. Even offered a complimentary glass of wine each which I thought was a nice touch. The building is old but well kept, retaining many original features. If you like hotels with character this may well suit you. The suite was lovely. Very large even with a kings size bed, 42inch flat screen TV, dining table & chairs two settees & a coffee table. There was still room for a party. Very impressed indeed. The only down side to this suite was being at the front of the hotel looking out onto the main shopping area. At around 6am each morning you could hear the street cleaning cart. Personally it didn't bother me, but I can see how some people may not like that. The windows in the suite are not double glazed. The hotels staff are one of it's main assets all we found to be helpful & would go out of there way to do what they could to make your stay a pleasant one.Food was very good in the restaurant at night and the buffet breakfast. The free Wi Fi wasn't that good, could be being in the older main building with thick walls didn't help. I would most definitely return.

Great value for money. Based in centre of Carlisle which is handy for shopping / visiting castle etc. All Staff provide a very good service. Jodie the new restaurant manager is a delight and food was excellent.

Staff at Crown and Mitre friendly. We were not made aware on booking though that we would be offered a cheaper menu than the one advertised on the hotel's website. Food was good though. Bedroom satisfactory but not convinced we were offered the "best room available" as advertised on your website. Service good and staff friendly.

The staff were very helpful especially when moving a wheelchair around the hotel. The reviewer who said the lift was a little small was correct, we ended up taking the foot pads off the chair. Had no problem finding the carpark, visitors should check the web site for the postcode which is different from the main building. As someone said the building is a little tired but it is being upgraded as we speak. All in all a very nice few days and we shall be back.

Our room was a bit small but it was clean & had everything we needed. The breakfast & dinner in the hotel was very nice with good service. All in all good value for money. Deal from classic Britain was better than any others we found.

Bedroom was a little small and dated and slightly worn and was in the annex so we had to walk across to the main building several times in the rain and sleet. Service was good and reasonably friendly. Food was very good with reasonable choice. We used the pool which was small but adequate. Overall good value. We would stay again, but would request a room in the main building.

A nice quiet refurbished room A bit small but adequate Did have problems with shower but just used the bath. Wi Fi and TV a bonus Hotel very central and car parking available Be sure you know how to access car park as with one way system can be complicated to find Food excellent and staff very helpful. Would visit again
