Only gripe was reception staff not attentive. Speaking to themselves when it was obvious we were waiting to check in. Noticed this with other guests when we were passing through reception. Ash staff ok. Breakfast DIY. Wouldn't put me off going again though, been twice before, lovely big rooms.

Large family room overlooking the station square. Two double beds and plenty room for the extra foldout bed. Clean. Bathroom with shower over bath and modern. Only letdown would be rotten windows not easy to open and some not able to open at all. Breakfast ok. Food only barely at eating temperature and sausages pretty dire. Would love to know the meat content(can't be much). Many comment on sausages so please look like you take heed of feedback and do something about them.

I booked this breaks in june 2014 and on arrival at the hotel they had no notification of this booking and it took there staff 40 minutes which i think is ridiculous as i had 2 friends with me and i was embarraresd at how serious my booking for 2 double rooms were treated . what if the hotel had been fully booked .what would have happened then can you please get back to me with an explanation. thank you.

In general the hotel was good with the rooms and food really good. There could be some improvement in customer service in the restaurant. Although staff were busy acknowledgement of customers when they are waiting to be served is really important.

The shower over the bath was faulty in that I could not alter the temperature of the water which was very hot. I reported this to reception and I trust this has been rectified. Otherwise, the hotel is excellent and is very good value for money. I have stayed several times and will do so in the future.

Arrived on the Tuesday evening around 8pm. Check in was ok and was given a key to the room (no welcome cocktail as stated in the advert, although we did receive a voucher for it) On entering my room, the first thing that hit me was the musty smell, very overpowering. Also the room was a twin, I had booked a double (best available the ad states)Went back to reception to be told, no other rooms available as the hotel is fully booked. I told reception that under no circumstances was I staying in that room, primarily because of the smell and handprints on the bathroom door. Asked for alternative accommadation, I had drove from Glasgow after a hard days work to be given a shabby room! Eventually, a manager arrived to again tell me that the hotel was full, but I again itterated that I refuse to stay if the room offered and that I had booked a double room and if that wasn't available, they should not of accepted my reservation. He argued that the booking was double/twin, so I showed him my on line booking which cleary stated a DOUBLE (best available) After checking the computer, a room appeared, but again it was a twin, but they offered to put the beds together into a double the following day (I was only staying two nights. I said I would look at the room and then decide. The room now offered, was a disabled room (not a big deal) and looked a lot cleaner and smelled a lot fresher, so I accepted the room. On the second night, we got very little sleep as the person in the next room kept activating the diasabled panic button, After speaking to the night porter on the third time this happened (it was now 3.50am) he stated that he couldnt get an answer at the door, but it was nothing to worry about, the residents were not disable, but drunk and kept activating it by accident (if your the resident from room 118 and reading this.THANKS A LOT!) Breakfast was ok, nothing special, half cooked sausages, very fatty bacon, rubber eggs, so I had cereal. never again!!!! Ash is fab!

had a lovely 2 night break at the royal highland hotel,got a lovely double room this time.enjoyed the welcome cocktail on arrival and 2 course dinner with free bottle of wine was lovely..very good value as the single supplement covered the meal and wine..love classic Britain for deals like this and of course the staff are always so gracious and attentitive,especially at breakfast and the restaurant

This hotel provides excellent facilities and comfort. The bedrooms and bathrooms are very well appointed and spotlessly clean. Food is excellent and the menus are extensive providing something for everyone's taste. Very good value through Classic Britain.

Pity that the food in the Ash restaurant was poor, perhaps we picked the wrong dish. We went out to another restaurant for our other two nights as we were taking friends out.

Lovely well decorated room with a spotlessly clean bathroom but too hot for sleeping in. I had booked a family room for my husband, myself and our 14 year old granddaughter but on arrival discovered 2 beds halfway between singles and normal sized doubles. Our grandchild claimed one and we squashed into the second. I asked at reception if we were in the correct room and was told it was an excecutive twin and was what had been booked. As the deal we were on was excellent value for money and we were only there for 2 nights I decided to leave things as they were. The food in the restaurant was so good the first night we went back for the early bird menu on the second night.

20 people stayed and the only negative was the expected 10:30 check out when we lost an hour due to the clocks going forward

Rooms, food, and most of the service was good only problem was the reception took our bookings for dinner for 2 nights but did not pass it on to restaurant they were very good in restaurant and got us a table even though they were very busy. We enjoyed our stay very much.

Very convenient location and well furnished. Limited parking but close to train and bus stations. Menu and food fairly ordinary but plentiful. A great hotel for a city break.

Apart from a rather abrupt receptionist on arrival my stay at Royal Highland was very good. Only criticism would be my single room which was not the best and certainly not worth the

The room in this hotel was lovely and very clean. The breakfast was ample but apart from one Scottish lady, the rest of the staff were not very friendly. The evening meal was a big let down and again the staff could have done with a lesson in how to speak to guests. The welcome we had from the reception staff was good and we would stay again but would eat elsewhere.
