Stayed for one night at a very reasonable rate for a central city hotel. Room although small was very warm and had everything you could need, iron, safe, hospitality tray. Heavy curtains, bit tatty but was wonderful at keeping light out and ensured a good sleep in a comfy if a tad small bed. Bathroom at first glance seemed spotless but on relaxing in bath it was obvious that toilet rim hadn't seen a clean as it was disgustingly dirty. Ceiling paint was flaking off in large quantities. Breakfast was ok nothing to write home about but adequate. For the price we paid we were very happy with our stay.

Wonderful offer! Great price! Very noisy outside bedroom, 120, asked to be moved. VERY nice and accommodating night receptionist offered us another room 127, still noisy, on checking he could hear the noise but not identify it. Third room was great! Lovely rooms, bathrooms and we had a dessert in the restaurant, and breakfast the next day was lovely,

The staff were so friendly and welcoming especially Gail who worked in the restaurant. Gail was very attentive and showed my two little girls where the toilets were. We were in Inveness for a Highland Dancing Championship and Gail was very interested and chatted to us all at length about it. One of my little girls won a trophy and lovely medals and Gail asked her to bring them to show her and she made such a fuss about it. Needless to say both my girls were delighted. This is the kind of stuff that makes you want to return. The bedroom and bathroom were spotless and very elegantly decorated. We had a beautiful bowl of fruit, Strathmore water, sweets and the usual tea, coffee and biscuits. Everything was fantastic however......on entering the room into a little cloackroom type area, there was a terrible smell. It was like smelly feet. I think there had been a leak above and the carpet was soaking wet. We couldn't walk to the bathroom without shoes and I was glad the kids brought their slippers. We dodn't complain as we are not the type of people to do so but the next occupiers may of been different. Once the door to the bedroom was shut the smell seemed to ease off and we were fine with it all. Our room was 218 and I find it very strange that they would let this room out to anyone with such a smell. After travelling from Lanark (4 hours drive) we were too tired to complain and just stayed put. Please note that the poor rating for the room is becuase fo the smell not the clenliness nor the decor!!!

We spent three nights in the Royal Highland. Good location for station, buses and general amenities. The room was comfortable a good size and with a ll of the facilities required for a short stay. Good choice of both continental and cooked breakfast. Used the hotel restaurant on two occasions and found the choice and quality to be good. Only criticism of the restaurant was the fact we were squeezed in very close to adjoining diners. Our package was good value for money.

The staff from the hotel were very friendly and helpful and my room was spacious. The hot food at breakfast was good and there was a great selection however the rolls and bread etc were not the freshest.

Thank you for the kind comments - though we source the same from one of the best known houses, but we shall definitely bring it to the knowledge of the Head Chef to take corrective action. We hope to welcome you again.

Hotel a little bit disorganised but bearable. Associated Ash restaurant staff leadership is chaotic and food and wine overpriced for the standard served - check your bills from the restaurant.

Bedroom very small while friends in our party had a very large corner room. Breakfast was served in the reception lounge tables on the saturday morning - very unsuitable. This appeared to be due to refurb of the breakfast room, however the restaurant lay empty.

Overall good hotel as been here before but they r obviously refurbishing the dining room and the place was to busy to cope..staff seemed untrained and some rude not to us but herd them speaking about other guests which was very unprofessional!!! Very unsatisfied about the bedroom rite on the back of trainstation and herd tannoy early and trains starting up!!! Mostly annoyed at the fact we paid for three adults to be in this family room and we had 2 x 3/4 beds and a put me up...this is surely for a child?? My daughter is 6ft tall and was not a comfortable sleep for her so on that note would be be entitled to receive a reimbursement to a childs price??? Food at dinner time and breakfast was excellent.

We have stayed here twice before and had lovely rooms both times, however this time the room had a musty/smokey smell to it. The shower had little pressure in the morning and the hallway had dirty laundry left outside another room for two days. The room was clean, all staff were friendly and food was lovely.

Hotel reply...

We thank you for your comments and as a returning guests you have sampled different rooms within the property as they are all individual in layout and location. It seems that the corridor you used may have had sheets outside belonging to our maintenance dept as they were in fact decorating rooms in that area-
