We have been staying at royal highland hotel every year (sometimes twice a year) since 2009, and we feel more at home every time. Staff are friendly and helpful and nothing s too much trouble for them The Ash restaurant serves delicious meals with excellent service. The buffet breakfast is ideal and easily accessed .

Asked to wait to see if room was ready at 2.20 so we sat in reception only to watch at least 2 other couples being given key to their romms. My husband went to receptionist and she gave us the room key saying "room might not be ready" 3rd floor room which was fine no sign of any cleaners on the floor at all. Room was clean and bed comfy. We unpacked only to discover safe not working, no bath mat in shower despite sign advising guest to use it,and no towel rail in bathroom. Back to reception where we were offered another room, bigger with large bathroom. Only problem right over the hotel entrance but it wasn't too noisy. By this time it was 4.15 so a few hours wasted. Towel rail not on in bathroom until we spoke to maintenance man. Evening meal in the restaurant was lovely though, good portions and attentive staff. Couldn't fault this at all and breakfast was very nice too,plenty of choice. Our only gripe was the reception and the first room. We usually stay at The Waterside which is a far superior hotel.

Fabulous hotel staff very pleasant and helpful we get disabled room which is brilliant food is great hotel central for everything be coming back again soon

This is not the first visit to the Royal,and as usual it was still of the same high standard .The food was excellent and the staff were friendly .

The hotel has a marvellous entrance and staircase which really impresses but our room unfortunately was tired and needed some tender loving care. The paper was beginning to peel in places and the bathroom panels had suffered badly from steam over the years. That said, that is my only criticism. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and genuinely interested in our welfare. The food at breakfast time and in the “Ash” restaurant in the evenings was of a very high standard indeed. Yes the drinks were a bit pricey but on value deals what do you expect the have to make money after all. I would certainly go again and recommend it to anyone else. It is centrally located and great for the city centre and the railway station. It may be a bit more difficult if you arrived by car but there was nearby parking I believe.

Room was spacious, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The food was excellent with a good range of choices for both dinner and breakfast. Staff were courteous and helpful. Could not really ask for much more. I have stayed at various hotels in Inverness on previous visits but this has probably been the best.

This was our third study in this fine, old hotel and again it did not disappoint. This time we had chosen to stay in a Royal Room which cost a wee bit more but was definitely worth it. It was more akin to a suite than a room and we had a good view of Inverness. The staff were helpful at every turn and the food in the Ash restaurant was also very good. Breakfast is buffet style and there’s always plenty hot food to choose from. The price we payed for our package was reasonable and we’ve already booked again towards the end of the year.

We had a very enjoyable two night stay at the hotel. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Beds were really comfortable and clean. We had dinner in the Ash restaurant one night and the food was delicious.

Love this hotel the staff are a credit they really know how to look after you nothing was a bother breakfast plenty of choice also had afternoon tea also great and what can I say about dinner absolutely fantastic steakpie was lovely I didn't want to leave already looking to book again

Location of hotel very central, had a great room and we enjoyed our breakfast and dinner. Could not fault hotel, enjoyed our stay very much, would come back in the future.

We had a lovely stay at this hotel, the room was very good and the food was fantastic. Staff were very helpful however as our offer included DBB on both nights - 3 courses + tea or coffee what in fact we got was a £25 food voucher each plus either 20% discount of meals in the restaurant however this did not apply to any people on DBB and a 20% discount of a second drink. It would appear that there are a lot of different deals on offer which makes it difficult for the staff to keep up. We did not get a 3 course Dinner as the £25 dinner allowance only allowed sufficient funds for 2 courses and if we had gone over the £25 allowance we were then expected to make up the shortfall. I found this to be very misleading and not what I had budgeted for.

Great weekend cant thank the staff enough and janice, cheers had a meal in the ash restaurant and it was excellent, there was 14 of us and not 1 compliant 5 strvice will be back next year or earlier

stayed at the hotel on mon 13th and tues the 14th first off the hotel is very nice and done out in true Scottish style the main staircase is stunning ,our room and unsuite were ok too /now the bad bits . 95 % of staff are foreign most fined it difficult to undersand , apart from the style of the hotel I could have been in one in Poland ,sadly the Scottish flavour id hoped for was gone even at our evening meal not one of the staff were Scottish !and again at breakfast the same was true apart from the lady on the door of the breakfast room . I will now be calling any hotel I will be staying at to ask the % of foreign workers ,this must be harming our tourism I am Scottish but I would be more than annoyed if I had came from ovas to enjoy a traditional Scottish hotel and all I could hear was foreign accents from the staff,also from what if saw in inverness there is more than enougemployed local people that I think would be more suited to this type of work on one last note the original sash windows are very nice but after getting woke up a few times with drunkan louts shouting out side perhaps secondry double glazing might be a good idea

Reception staff were very capable. Room was standard- in need of update. Restaurant food and breakfast were excellent. Staff in Breakfast room very warm and welcoming. Major disappointment was Wi fi coverage. Told only one device could use fee wi-fi. Very disappointing. Coverage was dreadful- husband had to hold tablet out of bedroom window to be in range of alternative free wi-fi at large shopping centre. Complained to staff but to no avail. Dont think we will be returning again. Shame as its a lovely hotel, prime location and good value for money

Thoroughly enjoyed our latest visit to the Royal Highland Hotel. The helpfulness and friendliness o the staff goes a long way to making you feel welcome. Choice of food at both dinner and breakfast cannot be faulted. Hopefully we'll be back again later in the year
