Rob Roy Hotel, Aberfoyle

Disappointed on arrival that no bottle of wine was in the room as part of the deal, I assumed then that it would be provided at the first evening dinner which wasn't the case. I spoke to the receptionist next day and she said she would would inform the management, Second nights dinner still no bottle so I spoke to the bar manager and he assumed also that the wine should have been in the room on arrival, he then provided a bottle from the bar. I feel that if your not part of the coach parties you then get treated differently. Light background music at breakfast when the coach party were in, however in the evening nothing you could hear the cutlery hitting the plates not nice if your a couple looking for a romantic evening, Another couple who booked direct and both 93 yrs of age even asked why no music was been played they were told the staff cannot work it .I have a booking with you for our anniversary this January in Oban, but now thinking of cancelling it. I am really angry that I had to ask twice for the wine.

Hotel is good we have been several times meals were great as there was 4 coaches in for turkey and tinsel.only a couple of complaints the car park is full of potholes could do wit filling.My wife is disabled and uses a small buggy to get from bedrooms to dining room you have to go out side in all weatheryou cannot go through reception as there is steps at both ends

Great tribute night. Meat Loaf was brilliant. Lovely hotel, lovely clean room, delicious 4 course meal. Nice friendly staff. Good value for money.

First time at this hotel and will definitely go back. Extremely polite and courteous staff throughout. Room was spacious and clean. Three course evening meal was excellent. One minor negative, buffet breakfast on the second morning could have been warmer. Very good value.

Fantastic 3 night stay including Saturday night Tribute Act over September Weekend. Had requested a room near to the reception / function suite / bar and was given the first room on entering the accomodation block. Ideal!!! The meals were delicious and well presented. The Elton John / Neil Diamond tribute act was brilliant. Thank you to all the staff who made our stay so good. (Nothing was a bother to any member of staff) Third visit to the Rob Roy and already looking to book for a fourth time.

This was our 4rth time at Rob Roy and won't be out last. Food as always was excellent with a menu to suit all tastes and the buffet breakfast would be hard to beat. The bedroom as usual was spotless clean with a big comfy bed and the bathroom was really beautiful with a lovely big shower. All in all another fantastic stay and I would highly recommend Rob Roy for a lovely quite peaceful stay.

Nice and clean though in places a bit tired Staff were the real high point excellent ! tribute night entertainment were great but oh dear the food! while most of it was tasty the chicken Balmoral was chicken buckingham palace = ( no haggis!) really ! never ever have i had that . then the Crannahan no raspberries ! a trickle of raspberry sauce deep down under porridge! (I HAVE HAD MORE DRIZZLED ON A ICE CREAM CONE AND IT WAS THE SAME STUFF ) the cream is supposed to be light and fluffy with a little fine oatmeal not stodge.the steak pie on the second night was not good How can you get pieces of steak the same size so tough that you could not chew it and others melting in your mouth BREAKFAST okay if you like rubber overcooked fried eggs and not hot sausages were added to the sausages in the heater who knows how long the ones on the bottom were there and the bacon like cardboard hard and tasteless But the staff were so good so fast ,so efficient and friendly GIVE THE STAFF A BONUS AND FIND NEW CHEFS WHO KNOW HOW TO COOK SCOTTISH FOOD I AM GENUINELY EMBARRASSED TO THINK THAT TOURISTS MIGHT THINK THIS IS WHAT WE SCOTS EAT.

Very good 2 days away Food delicious as usual. Staff pleasant and friendly. Spotlessly clean . Only fault no housekeeping. They should check room everyday empty bin and replace toilet roll Quick hoover. You should not have to go to reception and ask for toilet roll. Also these staff are missing out on gratuities.

Fabulous stay at the Rob Roy Hotel. Although dated, the room was clean and perfect for our two nights. The food was excellent and staff friendly, although short staffed to deal with the coach parties and other guests. Discount for golf which is a short walk. Great base for exploring the Trossachs. Good value for money.

Hotel had boiler issues when we arrived and we were given a room at the very end of the hotel - 1000 steps round trip to the restaurant. Bed squeaked loudly every time you moved so neither of us had a great sleep. Touched the wall behind the bed on our last morning and found it was thick with dust which explained why both of us were sneezing - both asthmatic. Staff are friendly and welcoming. Dinner was from a set menu and was served incredibly quickly. portion size was huge. Breakfast served buffet style. Hotel very busy with bus parties.

A great hub to use for the many walks around Aberfoyle. I had booked the 2 nights on a Dinner B&B on a single room basis and had a lovely stay at the hotel. All the staff are very friendly and helpful when required and the food quality has to be commended with the breakfast one of the best tasting bacon & black pudding I have ever had. The young lad on breakfast duty always keeping an eye on the buffet levels and topping up when required. He also answered on numerous occasions to the non Scottish guests what the small triangle things were called, taking the time to also explain what the ingredients were to a 'tattie scone' probably has heard this question a dred times but was happy to reply with a smile. As I have already stated, great staff! The twin room was clean, spacious and the bed comfortable enough. There was enough tea and coffee selection/milk for my two night stay and if extra required you could pick up extra from reception. My only concern was the shower tray that was very slippery when entering and would recommend you get a shower mat from reception prior to use. I see many old people with limited mobility and this would definitely be needed. Going forward I would like to see a grab rail being fitted within the shower cubicle to give some assistance. Apart from that one concern, I will definitely return in the near future.?

Spent a couple of nights at the hotel The receptoon staff were friendly and welcoming on our arrival , explained everything. Dinners were lovely as was breakfast plenty of choice. Again waitresses/waiters were friendly and helpful. Have been a few times to this hotel and would not hesitate to recommend it.
