The staff at the Arrochar Hotel were all very pleasant, particularly the dining room staff. However the building itself left much to be desired! A window in the dining room, very near to the hotel's main entrance, was broken and the window frame falling apart. It was boarded up inside the dining room & a curtain pulled across it, but on the outside it was not covered over & gave a dreadful impression! There were dozens of cigarette stubs tered on the ground all around the main entrance - disgusting! In our bedroom one curtain was hanging off the rail as the first three hooks were missing; the ensuite door was not hanging on its hinges properly so would not lock; the shaver light did not work; the w.c. seat & cover were loose and insecure. The bedroom carpet could have been hoovered much more particularly - there were several hairs (looked like animal hairs - yuk!) on the carpet. We would not choose to return to this hotel.

Hotel reply...

Guest satisfaction is paramount to our business and I am sorry that on this occasion we did not meet, or indeed exceed, this. I have spoken at length with my housekeeper and maintenance team and would like to assure your guest that systems have been put in place to ensure reporting of such things as hanging curtains etc, is acknowledged and acted upon. Both Housekeeping and Maintenance also wish to be copied in with their apologies. With regards to the window, it had indeed been boarded up the day prior to your guests arrival and we were waiting for a replacement window. Unfortunately we cannot foresee when a window will break, but have acted to replace it as soon as possible. Once again please pass my apologies to your guest for the shortcomings he encountered during his stay Regards General Manager Arrochar Hotel

Had a lovely wee break. Staff were pleasant & very attentive. Food was good off the main menu but not so keen on the set menu offerings. Room was basic but clean & comfortable. View outside was amazing. Hotel is definitely needing a bit of upgrading & wasn’t so happy with not having a mattress protector on the bed but there’s always room for improvement. All in all it was a well needed couple of days away.

Great value for dinner bed and breakfast deal. Staff very friendly and considering location bar prices were extremely reasonable. Our double room although a bit small was very clean and warm.

The hotel is in ideally situated for exploring Loch Lomond, the Clyde Coast and a wider area.It was warm throughout, rooms were comfortable and staff were welcoming , friendly and helpful. We ate in the restaurant both nights and found there was a good choice and the food reasonably priced and very tasty.

A very enjoyable 2 night stay. We had a room with a loch view which was great to just sit at the window and admire. We also ate in the hotel on 1 of our nights and the food was very good as was the service. Food & drink also reasonably priced. The breakfast choices were good too and our full Scottish set us up for the day ahead.

booked at last minute. The hotel is dated but i knew that from past visits to arrochar. The room we were given had been modernised and had new windows, new carpets and furniture and had recently been painted...it just needed to have been wallpapered. This said i had a pleasant enough stay and a view from the room. The staff were all nice and helpful and breakfast in morning was good.

The staff were very welcoming and helpful. When we asked for an non-slip bathmat they were immediately accommodating. The views from our room were over Loch Long and The Cobbler and were beautiful. The room was spotlessly clean, warm and cosy.

Fantastic service. I mistakenly arrived a day earlier than booked. The staff could not have been more helpful. They sorted another room without any hesitation. The young man on reception was exceptional. My son called on our second night to surprise us with dinner and the young man on reception seen to it that this was done. Will definitely be back.

Although our room was okay, apart from needing a really good clean at the bedroom window, our friends had problems with their rooms unfortunately. One couple eventually accepted the third room they were offered, due to the other two rooms being unsuitable for various reasons and even then, there were problems, such as the duvet being badly marked under the duvet cover. Another couples’ room was quite badly marked with black damp marks. This hotel has a 3* category and there is no way that it’s 3*. The staff were friendly enough and the food was very good, but the hotel needs to spend a serious amount of money to upgrade the bedrooms. It has stunning views of Loch Long, but because of the bedrooms, we wouldn’t return.

Spent 2 nights at the hotel. Easy check in,girl was very helpful. Lift to first floor, which is handy. There is work going on in hotel,so a bit of noise till 4.30. The hotel is old and could do with a spruce up. Damp patches in hallway etc, which are caused from roof leaking, thats why the workmen were in. The room itself was clean and warm, with great view of loch. Bed a bit hard. We had diner in the hotel and it was very nice.Staff very helpful and quick. Lighting not great in the dining room. Overall a great hotel that is old, could do with a makeover.

This was a second visit, in recent years, to this lovely hotel for my wife & I. The staff are wonderful & very polite in every way. The food & service was excellent and our room ( 211 ) was spotless with beautiful views over Loch Long and the mountains beyond . Absolutely no complaints. Would recommend without hesitation.

My partner and I booked a 2 night stay with D,B&B...with the added option of a 3rd night for £20. But when adding this 3rd night option the £20 deal wasnt availbale so booked the 3rd night at full price. Asked for a loch view room at time of booking and got email confirmation, but due to the hotel being very busy they couldn't give us a double room facing the loch, but did arrange to give us the suite on the 3rd night to which we accepted. All good so far.... breakfast was lovely and the waitress couldn't have been nicer and with my partner not eating meat she was given the option to add beans and mushrooms to her breakfast which isn't on the menu, I had the full Scottish with the added beans and I asked if I could have both the haggis and black pudding with no problems. Dinner was excellent too. Room was smelling a bit damp on arrival but once we got the heating on the damp smell quickly went away. As for cleanliness it was well kept could be doing with a wee spot of paint here and there and a bit of grout cleaner on the bathroom and the room would have been spotless. Bar prices were reasonable too, £6.80 for a pint of lager and a vodka and e..(the same order @the village in was £7.60).

Booked in around 1600 on the 17/11/17.and reception area fairly busy for this time of year. We had booked one of the upgraded rooms for an extra 10£ a nite. room 130 had a good view over the loch.the room was clean and warm on entry. Toilet had bath with shower and again spotless. Only down point was we had no hoer the following morning and the water was still cold at 1800 as we were getting ready to go out.we had to boil kettle to get some hoer.complained and told that the boiler was in process of being repaired.and was. We were booked in for dinner on first night.which was very good with free bottle of wine. Breakfast each morning was good aswell with no complaints. Overall we had a good couple of days away in The Arrochar hotel. 2 single beds.

On arrival at the hotel we greeted by a rather manic receptionist. We were booked in and handed our keys and told the room was on the second floor. When we got to our room we discovered it was a twin room when we had booked a double. We went back to reception to complain and were handed another set of keys and told it was a double, the room was clean and tidy but extremely small. When it came to dinner i had phoned the week before to book our table (as advised by the hotel) but when we enquired about the booking we were told they had no record of it and there was no tables available at out desired time. The food was tasty and the portions huge so can't fault that. Overall we were disappointed with the service and hotel in general. This is somewhere we won't be returning to in the future.

When we arrived plenty of parking in car park and reception area looked warm and welcoming, was given keys to our room, well what can I say about room nothing nice! It was tiny had a view of the bins! Curtains where hanging off, and it was obvious that all the cleaner had dpne was make the bed! Went to use the toilet to find it hadn't been flushed! Room was dirty went and complained and was offered a different room but it had 2 single beds soon solved this by just pushing them together, this room was slightly better larger room, and cleaner, and had a view over the loch, but bed still very uncomfortable, our package included meal on the 1st night and breakfast both mornings, evening meal was passable set 3 course meal is small and basic but you can pay more to upgrade your meal, breakfast well the cooked breakfast is tiny!! One rasher of bacon one sausage, one fried egg, half tomato, potato scone and black pudding or haggis! No beans, mushrooms anything like that, you could also have cereal, porridge, toast, staff whilst all foreign where mostly friendly enough for what we paid I suppose it was ok but don't think we will be booking again in a hurry.
