unfortunately we ahd to complain to the management when we arrived we got told we would not be able to get a table in the restuarant until 10pm we were not too pleased at this but if that was all we could get then that was it , too late really to eat a meal, when we went for dinner it was a nightmare food had ran out and deserts we got told there was even no ice cream, the service wasnt too good either although we were not blaming the staff infact we felt sorry for them, loads of people were complaining, there didnt seem to be enough organisation or supervision,we complained to the person in charge in the restuarant and she deducted the cost of our drinks off our bill ,it was so bad that at 23 40 we were still waiting to have our desert, I had just came off nightshift that morning and didnt have a lot of sleep and was hoping to have a bit of an early night no chance, it was also our friends first time at this hotel and they were not impressed at all, our rooms were pretty basic and really small especially our friends and the heat in the rooms was unbearable I had to have the fan on dont know the reason for this as there was no heating on in the room, infact it was so bad my friends husband couldnt sleep, so not an enjoyable time at all, we are waiting on a response from the duty manager at the hotel, maybe to invite us back up again.they kept saying that the hotel was really busy but they should be able to accomodate for busy times like these we had been at the hotel a few times before in the past and never experienced anything like that, quite embarrassing as I kept saying to my friends before we went how good the hotel was, hope to have a response from someone soon.

I stayed overnight at dunblane hydro on the sunday of the Sept weekend. On arrival there was a large wedding being held which meant the hotel was extremley busy and it took over 20miutes to check-in as there was only one girl on the main reception. The room was adequate however it was very cramped and the shower curtain stank of dampness. The dinner was lovely and the service at dinner was great. This was the only good point about the whole stay, as throughout the night other guests were slamming doors in our corrider, shouting down the corrider and children were running up and down the hall, which would be fine if it was at an acceptable time but this went on till after 1am. The room was also unbearably warm. In the morning at breakfast we waited 15 minutes to be seated, which i think was due to the hotel being under-staffed. I was hoping it would have been a relaxing stay as I am six months pregnant, however I felt more tired upon leaving than when I arrived.

Great hotel, rooms great, dinner in Nick Nairns restaurant outstanding but the breakfast was terrible. Bacon was like rubber and the lorne sausage I could have used as a hammer!! How can they get a breakfast so wrong?

Disappointed with the overall cleanliness of the hotel, dirty dishes and trays were left in corridors and at the stair landings for hours on end. On our second day room was not only not cleaned but towels we had left to be replaced were refolded and left in the bathroom when clearly dirty ,nothing else was cleaned nor replaced including dirty cups and glasses. We then had to wait for about an hour before room was cleaned. Although reported to the duty manager, no apology from the General manager was received. Service in the restaurant was not what would have been expected from a 4 star hotel, bread rolls were randomly delivered to tables, it was also apparent that they had been continously microwaved as they were more like brick than bread, if I were Nick Nairn I would be embarrassed with having my name associated with the restaurant. Having to wait over two hours to complete meal on consecutive nights shows a problem somewhere in the kitchen/restaurant. No problems with the swimming pool and spa. We will not return to Dunblane Hydro and will not be recommending the hotel.

The front of this hotel is lovely as are the greetings from the staff but from there on it disapoints again and again. The public area to the bedrooms are a disgrace, dirty carpets, dirty brown wallpaper, room service trays left in corridors for hours. Either reception or housekeeping need to get their act together, not sure which one. We have stayed in this hotel on several occassions and each time a few things have been wrong with our room. When we report these to reception they very quickly agree to report it to housekeeping to get it fixed but housekeeping never do anything about it so either the message is not passed on to them or they choose to do nothing about it. On this visit we asked for a double room as usual but we were given a twin, receiption indicated that housekeeping would sort it but guess what, they never did, this was no surprise as they never do anything about it. Once again the dinner menu is style over substance. Luke warm, tasteless food. You really do struggle to find something on this menu. Neither my husband or myself have a plain palete but we really strugged to select something for dinner. Eventually I ordered pork, my husband ordered duck, both were very fatty and tasteless, the potatoes that came with the pork were horrible, both dishes were left vertually untouched. Would I use this hotel again, probably, the beds are very comfortable, the showers are very good and the breakfast is fairly decent but this hotel is let down by down by housekeeping and the areas to the bedrooms etc.

The staff make this hotel with their friendly service. The bedroom while very nice and a front view was not really up to a superior room. Apart from two shallow dressing table drawers there were no other drawers in the room and even the one bedside cabinet had no drawers and was small. My wife is Deaf and although the TV appeared modern there were no sub-titles available. There was no teletext either which I find very surprising

Original room was very small the bed looked as tho it was a large single bed. However staff did change our room which had sn adequate bed this room smelt of damp which was due to a drip under the bath. Overall this hotel is in need of some TLC and an upgrade on its decor.

overnight stay with breakfast and dinner was extremely good value especially in the month of August! Was the first that we had experienced dinner in The Kailyard and yes, we would recommend it. No welcome cookie offered though!!

Upon arrival at 1540 we tried to check in but were told rooms not available to 1600 , we were not the only couple waiting to check in suppose about another 10 or so. No real problem there as we decided to go to the restaurant and book a table for evening dinner, which we did then returned to reception where we were allocated a room, this was a room in the Stirling wing of the hotel not really part of the original hotel but some sort of travelodge build on. once we negotiated our way around a dark and dirty purple painted corridor we found our room. The room was very small no air conditioning but unbelievably dirty, hairs in the bathroom tea spill down all furniture and the dust was unbelievable and was a twin room (we had booked a double)I returned to reception to complain and was told they would send someone up to clean it and turn the bed into a double i.e join 2 single beds together. I said this was unacceptable as it was a birthday treat for my other half. Seen duty manager and was moved to a double room in main hotel for the Friday night and was told we would have to move again on the Saturday night because of a wedding , so we accepted this and had what I would describe as a Hilton hotel; standard room on the Friday night and we moved again for the Saturday night to a twin room this time but this was still in the main hotel. So having booked a table for dinner on the friday night for 2015 we trun up only to be told we are booked in for the Saturday night!! their mistake so table found and we have dinner 2.5 hrs later we Finnish dinner!! nothing wrong with the food but service really slow on the Friday night. Breakfast in the morning usual Scottish items but very disappointing cheap sausages not cooked tattie scones not cooked eggs fried ages ago.Restaurant again dirty and dusty, Just not up to Hilton standards in any shape or form. definitely would not return which is a shame cause such a beautiful part of Scotland SO COME ON HILTON GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER

Stayed for one night with my parents and everything was great. Couldn't complain. My parents even managed to get a room to the front of the building looking over the large lawn - we we're very impressed! Food was lovely as well.

Hotel was lovely and staff very friendly. The only negative comment I would give is that I did not like the idea of using the bar at breakfast to display the fruit juices and milk. Black jugs were used and you had to take them down to see what fruit juice was in them as they were not labelled. Also the milk was not labelled as to whether it was full, semi or skimmed.

We have stayed in this hotel several times over the years, this time we thought the cleanliness of the rooms wasn't up to usual standard. Dust on surfaces in the room, window sill dirty, corridors on the wing we stayed in were badly needing hoovered and dishes were lying about and this was at our check-in time of 4pm, supposedly after housekeeping was done.

Bedroom I thought was on a bit on the small side and I found the mattress hard ? (as I woke up with a sore back every morning)but that did not detract from a pleasant stay.
