Our 2 nd stay at this hotel.friendly staff,clean rooms and good food.Excellent value for money. Short walk to railway station for train to Carlisle.12 minute journey, to centre. Carlisle Castle worth a visit. Will visit Tullie Museum next time. Short walk to Gretna food hall which now has a good variety and mix of shops . Gretna outlet is a bit further so we took the car.

Stayed 2 nights in room 114. Room was on first floor at the end of a couple of corridors.Room furniture was new and in good condition.Room was clean, bed linen clean , but, sheets were damaged in a couple of places.TV was not much use as all channels kept breaking up, reported to reception, they had a problem with a few rooms and did offer to change our room if we wanted, we declined as only 1 more night to go.Bathroom clean but towels were rather thin,shabby and a couples of holes. Second day towels were better though. The bath panel had been painted ant roughly sealed not a good job done plus florr tiles had lots of paint spots on them. not what you expect in an executive room. Breakfast was very good with plenty of choice. cereals, yogurts, tinned fruit, blackpudding, haggis, sausages, beans, mushrooms,fried and scrambled egg, bacon, potato scones and croissants. Also given a choice of white brown or mixed toast. Dinner was good there was 2 menus to choose from and even although I am hard to please found the food good, well apart from the sweet course.I had Eton mess but I did not enjoy.My husband had sponge pudding and custard but sponge was brick hard. Would return, if I got a good deal again, I would not pay the rate advertised at the hotel for the room..

Best available room promised, but ours was quite small with no view whatsoever. Was at back corner of hotel, with windows looking into where the bed was, therefore we kept curtains drawn most of the time. Have stayed here in the past, but by booking direct with the hotel and have always had a better room!

We have stayed often at Gretna Hall Hotel, love the location. Requested room away from motorway and this is what we got. lovely clean room, automatically upgraded. Food was lovely, staff very friendly and helpful. Very good value for money, still cant believe how cheap it was!

Very good vaslue for money, Sunday Night saver, only downside, could not eat until 8.0pm which is a little late for us, but still a very enjoyable night, and will stay again.

not enough power in shower otherwise the break was lovely would use classic britian again

We left after two days noise was unbearable people banging on the door and the ceiling shouting till 4o,clock in the morning. The staff were very nice and helpful

A lovey 3 days at GRETNA HALL the staff are a credit to the management our room was spotless and on the ground floor with our own patio the food was excellent only downside was the shower that ept falling of the unit but since this was our 4th visit this year speaks for it all

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Gretna Hall hotel. Staff very polite & efficient in their work. Very attentive to my needs as MS sufferer @ table and lovely room near Hotel nicely situated in beautiful well kept grounds, with historic interest of blacksmith's shop. Lovely to see the celebration of marriages whilst we were there. On busy days at hotel this did not interfere with service us.

We had a lovely stay at the gretna hall..........the only small irritation is the beer garden is situated directly outside the downstairs bedrooms, and if we wanted we could have joined in the conversations without leaving our room. Otherwise staff were courteous and food lovely.

WE HAD A VERY PLEASANT STAY AT THIS HOTEL ALTHOUGH THERE WERE A FEW WEDDINGS WHILE WE WERE THERE. WE WERE BOOKED ON THE LATE DEAL FOR JUNE/JULY AND HAD TO ASK ON THE SECOND DAY WHEN WE WOULD GET THE WINE AND THE VOUCHER. THE RECEPTIONIST ARRANGED TO HAVE THE WINE DELIVERED THAT AFTERNOON AND TOLD US TO HAVE TEA/COFFEE AND CAKE THAT AFTERNOON.

Excellent value for money especially as we were upgraded to a room which with the exceprion of the bathroom ceiling had recently been repainted and freshened up.

Agreed with previous reviews about rooms being a bit tired, holes in the bathroom door where handles had been moved did not make a good impression. Receptionist began by being very pleasant but this slipped a little when asked for complimentary wine. Food and service fantastic.

We were upgraded to the IV Room, which we had been allocated last year, it is such a beautiful room but it is a shame on two things, the dust on the television unit inside (same as last year) and also that awful toilet roll holder!!Please bin it!!! Otherwise a great stay again, we have been going to Gretna Hall for 13 years and always, the staff, the cleanliness of the rooms and all in the Kitchen deserve a thanks. The only other point would be the bar, 14&15th, was very often depleted of staff and your guests were stood waiting or gave up. These little points I am so sure will soon be rectified and we look forward to seeing everyone again in the near future.
