Day One Arrival

Day Two Ullswater & Northern Lakes

Time free in Bowness, the Lakes most popular town on the shore of Lake Windermere. Afterwards proceed over Kirkstone Pass - the highest road in the Lakes to Glenridding. Board the steamer for a one hour cruise on beautiful Lake Ullswater, the second largest lake in the Lake District, with time for refreshments at Pooley Bridge. The day continues through picturesque Lakeland fells visiting Grasmere & Dove Cottage, the home of William Wordsworth. (84 miles)

Day Three Lake Windermere Steam Train and Holker Hall & Gardens

Hop on nearby Haverthwaite Steam Railway, as it chugs through picturesque Leven Valley to Lake Windermere. Disembark to explore the Lakeside Motor Museum, with over 30,000 exhibits including the racing Campbells. Return on the steam train and make a visit to Holker Hall & Gardens - regarded as one of the best stately homes in Britain. We spend most of the afternoon at Holker exploring the house and strolling the southern Lakeland gardens. Returning via Lake Coniston (of Bluebird fame) and Ambleside. (48 miles).

Day Four Bassenthwaite & Lakes Distillery Tour

Time for some relaxation, take in the Lakeland air or, have a swim in the hotel pool (subject to the hotel you choose). Late morning departure with a stop in Windermere, passing and Ambleside with time to explore the lively market town of Keswick at the head of Derwentwater. Mid-afternoon continue to the highly rated Lakes Distillery near Lake Bassenthwaite, surrounded by Lakeland fells and woodlands. Housed in a beautifully refurbished 1850’s Victorian model farm sample the quality of world class gin, vodka & whisky on the guided tour. (80 miles).
