Really enjoyed the break must say the the staff were great, from booking in by Jane to the bar staff and breakfast staff could not have made us more welcome very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable clean towels and top up of tea and coffee tray daily. Easy access to the hotel and plenty of parking, will definitely be back.

Staff couldn't have been any nicer however the room felt dirty the mattress was broken it actually hurt both me and my partners back to the point we didn't spend a full night's sleep on it ended up having to sleep on the bunk beds. Bathroom was new and clean. Food was overpriced for the quality chips where raw.

Will think twice before staying again, it was the fifth time we have stayed here. The food served was very good but the service was far from acceptable waited so long for someone to ask if we would like a sweet got fed up and left went to complain at the reception who said it would be passed on to her supervisor. Ate out on our second night the hotel lost good revenue Toilet seat in room broken

What a wonderful overnight we had! From arrival, the lady on check in, right through to check out, the staff were incredible. Room was stunning! Food was excellent. We'll most definitely stay here again!

Stayed one night. Staff pleasant and helpful especially young man in bar who served the evening meal which was good. Room clean and comfortable. Downside was breakfast in morning. Some of full breakfast luke warm. Bacon in morning roll cold and had to be sent back.

the gables from the outside looks lovely but inside is very tired looking .the staff mainly seem young and inexperienced The food and drink seem very overpriced for a 3 star hotel .Allowing dogs in the restaurant is surely not right

A lovely hotel, great food and fabulous service. Paul, Tina and Charlotte were amazing and couldn't do enough for us. The reception team were friendly and knowledgeable. The management were friendly too. We look forward to coming back. Great location too.

Had stayed before and everything back then was really good that prompted us to stay again however it was a dreadful experience. Room was very tired and needed a fresh coat of paint everywhere. The most disappointing was the meal. The food was brought to the table and it was not fit to be served. The steak pie was cold on the inside, and the potatoes that were made from Smash were freezing, the vegetable looked like they had been microwaved beyond saving. It was taken away and we waited for fresh food, that was equally disappointing the description was beautiful the plates that arrived were not as described it was just edible probably because by this time we were starving. The manager tried to appease us by offering a bottle of wine which we declined, too late and too small a peace offering, after the fiasco of our meal. Breakfast was a poor show as well The manager offered to email us a voucher to come back and guess what that never arrived either. The staff were very very busy trying to keep up with guests but there simply wasn’t enough of them. Don’t expect them to make you any tails as they don’t! but they have 2 on draft.? This voucher was given to us in a gift and I wish we could have reported we had a great time sadly that wasn’t how it was. Hope they get the kitchen in order very soon.

Very disappointed. Hotel could do with an upgrade. Black mould on bathroom ceiling and on shower curtain track. Evening meal terrible, chips and fish overcooked, could not even cut the batter on the fish. One of the staff waiting on in the restaurant not wearing a mask. Will not be going back

Room was good, peaceful well away from any potential noise, a lovely jacuzzi bath. Food very acceptable and good value for money. COVID restrictions took away what might have been a cosy atmosphere in the bar. Staff very helpful.

Lovely hotel, staff are super friendly! Great breakfast. Would definitely stay again. We had the spa bath, four poster room which was lovely. The shower was rubbish but with that fabulous bath, not really a problem.

When we were there it was very busy and not enough staff. Food was average. Service at Breakfast on Tuesday morning was a disaster 15 minutes after we went in we got coffee toast then waited for cooked breakfast i asked for poached egg on toast and the wife scrambled egg on toast by the time they came coffee was cold and we only got the eggs no toast with them. The whole thing took 40 mins we went in at 8.20 and out at 9am. Staff run off there feet and no coordination.

We had a pleasant stay at the Gables Hotel. We found ourselves at an unexpected loose end on the weekend and trying to decide what to do/where to go we decided to go the Gretna and the Gables for the weekend. I had recalled they had a number of different offers on and we had stayed there before and had had a really good time. We went for the dinner bed and breakfast offer which was very good value for money. The room was spacious with all the usual facilities and the bed was very comfortable. We got the impression that the hotel wasn't too busy which is not surprising given the time of the year so we didn't mind the fact we had to look for someone to serve us a drink in the bar in the afternoon. Dinner was served in one of the smaller dining rooms which again, as it wasn't very busy was a good idea as the atmosphere was better than if everyone had been spread out in a large, mainly empty restaurant. However, I was surprised to say the least that when I asked about ordering a dessert at just after 8.30 (on a Saturday evening) we were told matter of factly that the kitchen was closed. So obviously no chance of coffees and liquors either. When we mentioned this at reception when checking out the following morning we were just told that last orders in the restaurant is 8.30 Not only is this rather early it would have been nice in that case if someone had told us that as soon as we arrived in the restaurant or at least during the course of our meal. Otherwise a very nice stay and an enjoyable weekend.

A lovely stay at the Gables hotel, we stayed for dinner bed and breakfast when the food and setting was fantastic. Staff were very friendly and helpful. I would certainly stay here again and if I had to recommend an improvement it would be the bedrooms had dated decor.
