Welcoming check in. Corridors been upgraded 2016/2017 ,our corridor didn’t make the deadline so looking rather tired+badly needing vacuumed . Found our room door open with a worker stating he was repairing our towel rail?Nothing mentioned at check in about this?Waited for a short time outside room but with overnights bags decided to go into room ,put bags down +await repair to finish.Apprentice put electricity back on +stated I think it needs a new towel rail.So it didn’t work.Closed door to find handle very shaky.Opened +closed door as unsure how to lock it +two screws came away from handle.Went to reception to inform them as no number available in room to contact them.Screws in door sorted.Fire alarm went off, followed green signs which took us to leisure centre, never came across other guests or staff.Alarm went off +we were still trying to exit building.Made our way to restaurant to enquire about alarm, procedure+safety.Bar staff acknowledged it was a fire bell but didn’t acknowledge our concern that we hadn’t got out building prior to alarm stopping.A rather alarming stay +rather anxious about future two visits U have planned at Barony Castle..Apart from this the Food + service good.

Picruresque hotel and grounds, heavy snow when we arrived which only added to the beauty. Pleasant reception, two flights of stairs up to the room. Room looked nice but need a bit of tlc, a few marks on walls, door was quite dirty. Bed was extremely firm and not comfortable to sleep on. We ate in the restaurant which was very nice but we felt rather rushed to order then mains arrived immediately after starter. Staff asked if we wanted dessert when taking mains plates away and said the kitchen would’ve closing yet it wasn’t even 8.45. Bar was very pleasant and well stocked. Decent breakfast with plenty of choice

Nice stay again although not without its problems. Fire in switch room knocke of power to the spa area so that ruined our time there. Dining room could have been warmer in the evening. Talked to the duty manager about both of these issues but only got an apology but nothing else. However food was excellent again as was the service in the restaurant. Drink prices are steep but I guess that's the way in which they make their money. We were staying on a great Sunday night deal to overall I would give them a try again.

Stayed here 2 years ago and had a pleasant room overlooking the car park.Upgrading of the rooms were taking place then. Stayed for two nights 15&16 Oct 2017.Requires investment inside the place is tired.Staff are great and the food is decent but the rooms require upgrading. We refused 2 rooms which we felt were small and dowdy before accepting a larger room .On the second night there was a smell coming from the bathroom on opening the bathroom door we found dirty water and dirt gurgling up from the bath drain .As it was 11:30 pm we decided to close the bathroom door and report it in the morning. We could not shower or use the bathroom that morning At reception we were told we should have reported it when it was discovered - what .A £10 discount was taken off our bill .

Pleasant overnight stay and reasonably priced. However, rooms are fairly dated and basic (hairdryer didn't work, no iron, mini fridge etc). Also, no table or chairs in room therefore had to sit on the bed to watch tv! Whole hotel looks like it could do with a revamp and they havevstsrted painting corridors so perhaps there are more improvements planned.

Thoroughly enjoyed our break. After we booked, my wife telephoned the hotel and thanks to Liz on reception we got a room and meal times to suit our age and health problems. We had a good room and were very comfortable. Meals were excellent including a bar meal on our first night. We looked forward to breakfasts. Thank you to the Chef and his staff. All staff were cheerful and helpful without being intrusive. The Barony has obviously been refurbished since we were last there and was very clean, bright and welcoming. Thank you to all who made our stay a very pleasant one.

We had a lovely 4 nights at Barony Castle Hotel the room was excellent, staff very helpful and friendly. We found the food was a good variety to suit most people, especially the breakfasts. Quite a few good sign posted walks.

Not as good as previous stays. Dull room with no view. Definitely needing refurbished. Food was ok but no better than that. Staff were ok but not as attentitive as they could have been. Average overall.

Lovely hotel , with friendly , helpful staff. We stayed in a privilege room , which was smaller than expected, and not really worth the extra money we paid. Couple of small faults in the room , but nothing worth making a fuss over. All in all , we enjoyed our stay , and would come again.

My husband I recently spent two nights at Barony Castle Hotel and thoroughly enjoyed it., once we found our room as the place is like a rabbit warren. Not really suitable for anyone who has difficulty with stairs. The food was great and the rooms were clean. The staff were all very friendly. Would go back again but would ask for a room without climbing stairs if possible

Room v ery good apart from the fact that when we arrived the smell of chlorine from the swimming pool permeated up to the second floor and I was really concerned that this would continue. However, after one hour it dissipated and the room was fine thereafter. Staff very friendly and helpful, Food excellent. Would definitely book again but ask for a room away from the swimming pool.

would not go back again the room carpet was very dirty yet they had the cheek to charge me £15 per night for my small dog saying that was for cleaning the dinner i had was ok but the 2nd nite i had fishg/chips and a glass of wine in the bar and it cost £21.80 which is a disgrace i have one piece of fish some overcooked thin chips of the cheapest variety and tartare sauce for £14.95 nice location and nice grounds but not worth the money

Some parts of the hotel a bit tired but our room was clean and comfortable. Dinner was excellent value and the mussels were very tasty. Breakfast was very good with an excellent buffet and some hot dishes cooked to order. All in all given the price we paid £49 I think pp, and also given that included a bottle of wine in our room we certainly couldn't fault anything. All staff were very courteous and polite.

Stayed at Barony many times and it never disappoints. We were especially pleased with the room we got this time on privilege rate (Darnhall). Special mention should be made to Jeanette who was very attentive throughout our whole stay. See you again next year!!

Lovely place, it's a pity that house keeping let's it down. Bedroom carpets needed hovering more often, especially behind and under furniture. Food was excellent and also staff were very friendly.

Had a very pleasant stay have not been since it was taken over.Although we had a great time the hotel has remained the same and is in need of a make over.In saying this I would still come back .Till it's renovated I would consider lowering your prices.
