Restaurant staff stood around while the only member of staff serving in the bar worked extremely hard serving bar customers and preparing drinks for the restaurant and room service. The tables in the bar remained uncleared until this member of staff was able to clear them, I had to clear a table myself as all empty tables were cluttered with empty glasses.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Barony Castle Hotel We found the food first class the service first class and the bedrooms very clean and comfortable the only problem was the bathroom had a little black mould around the bath that could easily have been cleaned we will go come back

I liked the hotel. One drawback was the location of my room (223). It was about as far away from reception as could possibly be. Having a problem with my lungs, I was breathless each time I had reached it. Another issue was the lack of variation in the menu. I have an eating disorder and many of the items did not suit me, to fair however the Manager and chef accommodated me on my request for a different fish on the second night of my stay. Lastly, I would suggest that the hotel "beef-up" the bar staff. On Friday evening the poor girl who was on bar duty was being run ragged trying to satisfy the need of the guests and those requiring drink in the dining room. Saturday, with a wedding party and a touring coach party added to the residents was manic in the bar although the three who were on bar duty just about managed to cope. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Barony Castle. I found the staff helpful and attentive, and would certainly return to it at some time in the future. I would also recommend it to my friends. The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful from the minute we stepped into the reception area.The food was first class and I would like to give food presentation 12 out of 10!!Very pet friendly, definitely go back and have recommended to friends already.

Staff excellent.If I had to criticise anything it would be creaking floorboards.As we have been here twice you will see that this did not put us off.Food was top class.A enjoyable stay.

Overall a good stay in the hotel. Rooms were good the beds comfy. Small amount of mold in the bathroom. Only ate in the bar food was ok. shame that the chips where par fried and the beef in the sandwich was processed and thinly sliced. The chicken burger was v nice. Staff were very nice attentive and helpful bar staff were great always had a smile for the guests. Would stay at this hotel again.

unfortunatly our car was damaged in the car park, we suspect it was a coach that scraped the rear of the car while it was park but have no proof about it. Hotel was very very nice and service great.

great stay especially with a free lunch for2 at malmaison &a trip round the royal yacht brittania thrown in. excellent value for money with great service.the food was 1st class. a great 2 day break & will certainly return. well done.

Had a very enjoyable weekend stay at Barony Castle. Hotel had nice atmosphere, staff were very friendly and helpful, and grounds were great for walking and cycling in (using hotel's bikes). Made good use of the pool and sauna too. Would recommend to others.

would have preferred to have been told about breakfast when checking in i.e. was was available and the cost, as this info was not available anywhere outside of the breakfast room. Would also have liked to have been told about the free tea and coffee facilities within the hotel as per your website; free flowing tea and coffee. We had burgers in the bar area which were very nice and have no complaints, except that we sat with our empty plates for quite some time (possibly due to us being sat out of eyeshot). Cocktails were also very nice! I assume it must be due to the area and what channels the freeview box picks up (or what part of the castle you're staying in) but we would have preferred more channel choice. We were in room 128 and the emptying of the bottle bins at midnight (as well as generally throughout the night)was a little disturbing when we were trying to sleep, as was the chatting of the delivery men in the morning. Woman on reception was very helpful and friendly.

Scotch Trifle dished up on our visit - under no allusion could it be described as such. I was disappointed to find a sponge finger stuck in a dish with a little jelly and cream. As a Scot I am well aware that most children are taught how to make such a dish at an early age. It is not difficult!! Also the choices of food were very limited.

Bathroom very dated with black mould in grouting- horrible! Other than that a great weekend & excellent value for money.
