My friend and I had a very pleasant stay at the Barony Castle Hotel the Staff were very friendly and helpfull.Our Meal on the first night was very good and so was our breakfasts, unfortunately the meal on the second night was very poor and we were disappointed as were expecting the same high standard we had on the first night.

Overall a great stay. Public areas all excellent, staff very good (especially with our 11 month old son), food great too and best breakfast i have had at a hotel for a number of years. Rooms are ok, basic and clean, bathroom a dissappointment for level of hotel, although it had been cleaned, very grubby looking in corners and bits peeling off wall not what i had expected. But this did not detract from an excellent stay

The exterior of the hotel was lovely - a nice castle with large grounds. They even offered bike hire free of charge (for guests wanting to explore the grounds only - hire bikes were not allowed off site). The reception and bar area were okay. However, the bedrooms required extensive renovation and, throughout my stay of 8 nights, the bedroom was not vacuumed once. The shared spaces (lifts and corridors) were also littered with bits of food and other items, and were clearly not vacuumed either.

Only small criticism of room is that we would have liked a safe to store eg. laptop. Other than that very happy and all the staff are very good.Dinner and breakfast excellent.

Cossy bedroom. Glad there was a fan and the window could open as it was warm in the room. Very clean. Fresh bedroom. Excellent food including a varied vegetarian menu. More organisation is required in the restaurant in order for drinks to be brought to the correct table. Be aware that bedrooms in certain parts of the hotel have one or two flights of stairs to go up and down, even after using the lift to get to the floor that the bedroom is located on.

Very helpful staff, who went out of their way to help my parents out on their recent stay. Only thing my parents said they would have appreciated was a second chair in the bedroom, apart from that, a lovely holiday.

Staff v friendly and helpful. 2 functions on on the Sat night yet this made no difference to the level of service. Only blot on the service was Sun breakfast, when, having being seated for ten minutes, I had to ask a waiter clearing a table if he would take our coffee order. Food was of a high standard and portions of the correct amount. Since it was a new menu, we were asked for our comments. (I gather I was the first person to try the Borsht and I would highly recommend it!). We had Rm304 in attic area and were pleased to note a fan was provided should the room be too stuffy. Reception v efficient. Have already recommended Barony Castle to others.

My wife and I stayed at the Barony Castle from the 8th to the 11th of July and were very pleased with the Hotel.Room and bedding clean and tidy food excellent. Staff very friendly and gave exceptional customer service.The only slight minus,the bedroom was ready for a coat of paint.

Staff excellent.food great.Only one thing I would change is shower cubicles instead of baths as this would suit disabled and elderly.We wiill be back .

we think the bedroom we stayed in was quite drab looking and the carpet was stained heavily , the shower screen fitted to wall was unmoveable as the whole thing including frame was threatening to pull out of its fittings, shower gel and soap not replenished and shower mat removed but not replaced. please see this as constructive rather than a complaint, overall we enjoyed the hotel and its surroundings and would go again but only using special offer prices as we feel the true price is a bit much

great value break which included a cream tea, breakfast, 20% off dinner which included a bottle of wine. pool and sauna were a nice extra, albeit a bit basic. Would definately return to explore the area some more.

This is a lovely hotel, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Beautiful grounds, spotless bedrooms.The staff are very friendly and helpful even found an i phone charger for my husband when he forgot his. The meals are delicious, dinner very good and buffet breakfast has ample choice. If you want something different the staff will endeavour to get it for you.The pool although small is very clean and relaxing after a day pottering around the quaint little shops in peebles. If any downside,the hotel especially bedrooms and breakfast room was very hot, perhaps the air conditioning can be turned up ? Overall we enjoyed our stay and would definately go back.

Some issues during my stay but Jamie and the team ensured they were resolved. Lovely location - rooms need an upgrade but I understand that is planned. Some more staff in the resturant when it is busy. A hotel with great potential
