We stayed at the Riverside Lodge on Sunday night with bed and breakfast, evening meal and a bottle of wine in the room. We think it's really good value and a really good hotel and food was lovely.

An excellent night stay it has been 7 years since we last stayed and what a transformation of the bar and restaurant area. Our evening meal was outstanding and lovely and hot. The buffet breakfast was again very hot and regularly replenished I'm not a fan of buffet breakfast but this was executed to perfection. Nice to get the included bottle of wine but maybe give people the option to pay more to upgrade I.e I drink white zinfandel rose but only could have pino grio. Rooms are lovely but could do with a little TLC . We will be back excellent value for money.

We had a great overnight at The Riverside Lodge and staff couldn't have been more helpful. Dinner was excellent but thought breakfast was just ok scrambled eggs a bit underdone for my taste and not a fan of fried eggs had to wait too long for the bacon to come out and was very fatty. Breakfast aside I would return.

Room of a good size and decor, the patio had no table to use where others did, a lot of excess building materials stores in direct view which could have been moved or screened.

The value for money you get with my hotel break is great I do think the money you pay for an overnight stay including a 2 course meal and breakfast is great. However this hotel is one I would never go back to. I would not have bought this deal knowing what this hotel it like. I didn’t find the rooms to be very clean. The worst part of the hotel is the restaurant staff. We waited for over an hour after ordering our food at dinner for the staff to realise we still had not received our starters. By the time we got our starters it had been an hour and fifteen minutes. We then waited another long period of time for our main course. The staff in the restaurant do not want to be there. They actually turn their heads away when you go to ask them a question (for sauce etc) and you don’t see them again for a while as they are trying to avoid having to do anything for you. The restaurant at this time was not very busy either as we were booked in at 8pm. We didn’t actually leave the restaurant until after 10pm because of waiting times! The food was very average and we had to ask for a drink 3 times before it even came. When we got to breakfast there was hardley anything left. Once the pastries had ran out that was it they didn’t put more out etc. The girl at reception when we arrived was so lovely and helpful but other than that it was not a good experience. This is nothing against my hotel break but this hotel is not worth the money of the stay.

We have stayed at the Riverside previously, and decided to come back on my wife's birthday. Staff are always friendly and helpful. Room was clean and comfortable, but electrical sockets should have usb charging points. Food in the restaurant was good, but service was slower than on a previous visit. My two criticisms were firstly the menus, it was a double sided A5 sheet of paper, with white print on a black background. In my opinion this looked cheap and uninspiring. Secondly, in the room, with the tea making facilities, the biscuits supplied were bourbon creams. I hate bourbon creams.

2 day break, including bottle of wine and dinner on first night. Told in dining room we could not consume the complementary wine with our meal as we have not purchased it in the restaurant. Bedrooms refurbished since I last visited. Now with a hair dryer fixed in a drawer as far as possible from the mirror! One bedside table and light only. No sockets on wall adjacent to headboard. Unclear why this has gone from 3 to 4 stars.

We had a lovely stay at the Riverside. Room was clean and comfortable. The shower was really good. The fan in the bathroom wasnt working. The beds were very comfortable but noticed there were no mattress or pillow protectors fitted. The breakfasts were really tasty and plentiful. We had to ask for mugs for our coffee. Thoroughly enjoyed the dinner on our first night. All staff were so helpful. In particular, the young girl in diningroom was so friendly and helpful, sorry didnt get her name. She had really long dark hair. Perhaps a small location plan showing bus timetables, places of interest and nearby footpaths would be helpful. We had a really peaceful alk to Irvine via Annick Water and found the Maritime Museum in Irvine which we found so interesting. I apologise for not raising these points during our stay. They wont deter us from staying at the Riverside again.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay (as usual) the Riverside Lodge is our go to Hotel for a short break. Staff and hotel are lovely ancd we were given an upgraded room which was excellent. Thank you for that. We will be back.

We had a lovely stay, staff were amazing, food was delicious, room was nice and comfortable although a bit dated as furniture was a bit scuffed. Only downside I would suggest maybe adding blinds to the window as there was only a curtain and it looked straight onto the houses so room was not very private as from the upstairs bedrooms in houses you could probably see into the hotel rooms when the curtains are open.

This is the third visit we have made to the Riverside Lodge Hotel in Irvine. It is a great hotel, situated close to a variety of places to visit; this time we took the ferry from Largs to Millport and we were so lucky with the amazing weather! The hotel has a lovely reception area and restaurant and the food is excellent. The staff are so welcoming and really look after you. We will be back!

We thoroughly enjoyed our night stay at Riverside, having been here several times in the past few years. The room was comfortable and well appointed, though the desk etc were showing signs of their age and usage. The friendliness and efficiency of the staff, and the quality of the food made up for any small deficiencies.
