Lovely hotel, food and service good. Issue with the low score on the room was the fact that the bathroom/toilet was not up to standard of a 4star hotel. Very grubby and lot a mould in the toilet/washhand basin and shower.

A lovely stay again! Staff were lovely and rooms very comfortable. The menu provided lots of choice. I have a lactose intolerance and staff did their best to accommodate.

Third stay at this lovely hotel. Great room on ground floor with doors opening out to the seating in the sunshine. As usual food was delicious and staff are always so pleasant.

This hotel is amazing, very friendly helpful staff, very clean hotel, our room was a good size, bed was a bit hard, furniture tired, excellent shower, food was amazing, would highly recommend this hotel and will definitely be back to stay again

Hotel was lovely very nice entrance area Room was very nice we were on the ground floor with double beds very spacious also patio doors leading outside Once the landscaping is finished it will be lovely to sit out having a glass of wine Although we had the car with us we arrived at hotel early and walked into the town centre only five minutes away got bite of lunch there and couple drinks before getting bus back good service stops right at the hotel We were on the DBB bottle wine deal two course evening meal and breakfast both very nice

Room on ground floor with good sized beds. Evening meal good choices and very tasty. Breakfast seemed much better organised than last time. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend

Hotel reception staff were very pleasant. Restaurant staff (one in particular) was asked twice for something but she never came back. Thought this was rude. Room was ok but felt it could have been cleaner. We had an accessible room but it wasnt great cleanliness wise and shower area wasn't clean. Maintenance also agreed about cleanliness.

Lovely hotel, rooms clean, staff friendly, food lush, 1 and only gripe was asked for menu for tails and had prices ordered at bar and found drinks to he £1 to £1.50 more expensive each which does add uo, so menu prices need to be updated

We have stayed at the Riverside on many occasions over the years under its current name and prior names. Other than the odd small issue we have always had a positive experience. Sadly on this occasion there were a number of problems, drops in level, service etc that very much tarnished our stay and indeed may well deter us from staying with you again. We are a very easy going couple and often allow little issues to pass by but due to the sheer volume of things I felt I had to contact you to complain to give you the opportunity to make things right with us to change our minds about coming back and also to deal with standards of service falling in general with the hotel. Please bear in mind when reading that Riverside is a 4 star hotel and although we had a good value package this should not be an excuse for providing a 1 or 2 star experience. I will detail things as they happened for us. Prior to checking in things seemed very positive as you kindly offered us a free upgrade. On checking in you confirmed the upgrade and also confirmed that our wine (included in package was in our room). On entering the room we were very happy with the room itself, as we had received an upgrade it was much larger, more modern than many of the rooms we had stayed in before. Sadly despite being included in the package and reminded at check in there was no wine in our room. Issue 1. Although we are not big wine drinkers it is part of the package and this was disappointing. We both got ready as we had dinner booked for 6pm. On leaving the room I always check the door is locked which it was as handle wouldnt move but when I gave the door a slight push it opened. Clearly the latch was slightly out of position and not catching. I immediately informed reception of this and they said they will take a look, we proceeded to dinner. It was purely by chance that I pushed the door and the issue here is the major safety and security implications this could have caused. We both had Ipads with us, valued at approx £2000 which could easily have been n, we could have left valuables, jewellery, wallets etc in a room that was infact open to anyone chancing there luck. This was issue 2 and in my opinion unacceptable. Bear in mind this was the upgrade!!! Our next disappointment was the dinner. Firstly I have no issues with there being a smaller inclusive menu for package deals as the options are more than sufficient. I do have an issue however having to pay a supplement of £6.95 for the privilege of chicken fajitas. Whilst I appreciate this is detailed on the menu there is no justification for this supplement. Looking at the main menu the cost of chicken fajitas and fish and chips are the same and only £1 more expensive than steak pie so what justification is there for this supplement. Fajitas are actually a very simple dish for the restaurant to make. That is issue 3. Issue 4 - We had to wait approx 35 - 40 minutes in between our starters and our main - that is poor service by any standards. Issue 5 - When the food finally arrived my fajitas were not sizzling as they should be. Clearly they had been lying ready for a while prior to serving them. They were also very overcooked and considering the already ridiculous supplement there was very little chicken provided, barely enough for 1 wrap. As service was slow we were already running late to meet our sister in the foyer for drinks. After asking for the bill the waitress informed us that a note was left saying they had looked at the lock and couldnt fix it but offered us another room which we agreed to. We were not offered assistance or an apology. We then had to stall my sister again and go to the original room where we had unpacked everything, pack it up and move to the alternative room which was a pain. Although the second room was still big it was in the old fashioned style and not as nice as the room we had left, no sink in toilet, old style decor, shower etc and clearly had not been quality checked for us swapping over which I will come back to later. We quickly unpacked and met my sister for drinks in the foyer. We headed to our room at about 11pm and I went to make a cup of tea for my wife and I. 2 of the mugs were dirty, the tea and coffee area had not been replenished so there was a shortage or milk, sugar etc.........as mentioned this had not been checked. The toiletries in the bathroom had not been checked either, there was shampoo but no shower gel and worse, no soap so we had to use our shower gel to wash our hands. My wife was also loaded with the cold but again sadly the tissue box in bathroom was empty........again not checked. I appreciate you may say why did we not simply ask reception......by this stage to be honest I was very disappointed and had already decided I was going to complain. I would say the one positive was the bed was very comfy and I have no issues over the cleanlines

Hi this is a lovely hotel and it’s spotless the meals are really good and the breakfast is lovely as well the staff are very pleasant and helpful can’t fault it at all had a very pleasant stay and will be back

Excellent hotel for a chill out break. Fantastic food, comfortable large room and standard of decor in reception, restaurant and lounge areas, surpass many a hotel in a city location. Exceptional value for money and we will certainly return for another chill out.

Ground floor to the hotel is stunning. Staff are super friendly and helpful. Food was delicious breakfast lunch and dinner. Drinks reasonable priced. Our room was on the first floor it was clean however very dated. Our bed felt a bit lopsided. Our bathroom was not nice there was a rust mark on the bottom of the bath and peeling paint above the shower. For some reason we had 5 small bottles of shampoo and conditioner but no shower gel. Only one tiny bar of soap. Bottle of wine in our room was a nice touch. Would have liked a choice of alcohol or soft drink if I'm honest as neither of us drink wine. We will definitely book to come back to this hotel. Hopefully get a room that has been renovated next time.

The hotel looks lovely and room where great but the review goes downhill from here. I was here with my dogs as the hotel claimed to be dog friendly, when we arrived we where told that the dog friendly area was over beside reception, the area was nice with soft seating and tables, however there was only 2 very small tables to eat your breakfast, dinner etc off unless you want to ch over and try to eat off a low coffee table. We felt very restricted and isolated, any other hotel we have been in the dogs are allowed fully in the bar area. Onto my next issue the places was filled with dirt plates, glasses etc and there where sitting there was over 2 hrs at a time, everytime we when for food or drink we had to either move the plates etc to another table or find staff and ask for it to be clean but that would take like 20 minutes, I don't expect this from a 4 star hotel. On the 2 morning we where there they ran out of stuff for breakfast on the first morning it was bacon and butter. I don't think I would be back anytime soon until the address the issues with the dog area.
