Riverside Lodge Hotel, Irvine

I wrote a review on trip advisor , just mainly saying that the hotel is never a 4 star although they charge 5 star prices. The rooms are dated and need some TLC. I made a few suggestions for improving the breakfast layout, I.e individual cereal boxes,jam and butter portions,fresh fruit rolls and croissants instead of just bread and individual yoghurts instead of on big bowl which wasn't marked either yoghurt, creme freche low fat or otherwise and some strawberries to go with the melon. All sounds very gloomy but the staff are fantastic and very helpful.

Really Disappointed at this hotel. Fifthly rooms asked to be moved and the new room was just as bad. In dire need a a manager to kick ass. Staff a credit to hotel(not housekeeping) . Food was delicious.

Enjoyable stay , rooms were very clean but need wee bit of renovation . Staff (apart from 1 receptionist ) were fantastic . Food was lovely but very very slow in serving . We had an evening when we waited almost an hour for our meal. Apart from that we enjoyed our stay

Poor advert for Scottish Hotels, especially with the Open Golf Championship starting the following week at Troon. Extractor fan in the toilet/bathroom wasn't working. On complaining was told "As the hotel had had that much bother with this throughout the hotel management had decided to switch it of together. The room was stiflingly warm with only an electric fan to cool it down. The meals at dinner were very good but why did each item on the menu rise by £1 from the Friday night to the Saay night????? Breakfast was poor with virtually no continental breakfast apart from croissants and there were only a few of those. The cost of alcohol in the hotel was ridiculously overpriced. Needless to say we won't be back.

Been at this hotel a few times now over the past few years, the staff are great , and the food and service is fantastic, but ever since our first stay the rooms while comfortable were always in need of some tlc and this is the case even more now rooms are now just starting to look tatty and run down, I dont know where the ' massive' investment has been spent since being taken over from The Menzies I have saw NO improvement at this hotel

This is the fifth time we have visited this hotel, and have not been disappointed yet, good food and service and attentive staff.

The hotel on first impressions was good, all the staff at reception were excellent, and nothing was to much trouble for them. The first room allocated to us had the window all taped up, and had a do not open sign on it, not very convenient as the weather was good, and the room was warm. Although there is a fan in every room we preferred to have the window open. No problem, at our request the room was changed straight away. The staff, both in the bar and restaurant looked very smart in their uniforms and were very pleasant, a credit to the hotel. The food at dinner was good and well presented. Breakfast was typical buffet style with plenty of choice, they had fried and scrambled eggs but if you wanted poached you just had to ask and it was no problem, again the staff were impeccable. We stayed for 3 nights and each day the cleaners were in nothing was to much bother for them, and again they were all very pleasant. The room we had No 227, was a typical standard double, the bed was massive and comfortable and the bathroom was good with both a bath and shower. Although please note it is not a walk in type of shower. The hotel is on 2 floors but there are no lifts to the 2nd floor, so if you are not very mobile just ask for a room on the ground floor and close to reception as some of the rooms are a long walk to the reception area. The rooms overall were clean, however all the table and wall lamps were very dusty inside, also for some strange reason there was only one bedside table.? The hotel is a 15 min walk into the centre of Irvine or the No 11 bus comes by every 7 min and the bus stop is only a 3/4 min walk from the hotel, a taxi into Irvine will cost about £2-80. Overall a great stay and would recommend it to anyone.

Had a 4 night break at this hotel with family and friends. Have been a regular customer for a while. This hotel is fab and staff attentive. The rooms are spacious and clean and beds comfortable.can thoroughly recommend this hotel.The meals in the restaurant are delicious and ample. Will be returning in the near future.

This is a nice hotel with great rooms and food. The bar and surrounding area very nice and the service at the bar is good. Service in the restaurant could be better and the staff also would benefit from being a little smarter dressed .

Stayed on 23/4/16 with my husband for 1 night.....staff were lovley,food was amazing, breakfast was lovely staff couldn't do enough for us.....we had a comfortable stay & would recommend this hotel & wouldn't hesitate to stay again..

Had a nice overnight stay . Room was a little tired and bed not the firmest ! Dinner was really good . Nice cooked breakfast but not much choice if you prefer continental . Only cerieal yoghurt and fruit . No pastries or cold meat and cheese .Overall good value for money . Would stay again .

Enjoyed the two nights stay. Pity there is no lift to the 1st floor and our room overlooked the swimming pool in the process of demolition and there were a few problems with the keycard. However the room itself was great.
