the stakes we ordered our first night there smelled so bad we had to send them back to the kitchen. we were offered something else from the menu which we enjoyed.I spoke with my daughter when we came home and she was saying it might have been the wooden board the steak was served on that smelled bad. Maybe something for you to think about if this has happened before,I personally prefer my food on a plate.

Great week end everything great only complaint was the heat in the bedrooms. Air conditioning no working, would not stay again until the problem is sorted but everything else fabulous. Staff are doing a great job cannot fault them at all.

loved the massive bid bed, has such a great sleep. Had dinner on the Friday night in restaurant and the Prawn starter and Main Salmon linguine were beautiful, great service from entry to hotel until leaving. Heather at the bar was such a peach, made us feel so at home as did Gary, Kellie and Ellie.

Pleasant, cheerful and helpful staff.Special mention must go to the young dark-haired(in a pony-tail)lady who attended to us at meal-times and was unfailingly polite and very industrious - always on-the-go. Happy that our request for a view was indulged and we overlooked the lushly green golf-course. Also glad we were able to open the window a little distance as it got a little warm and stuffy, and we didn't realise until too late we could've asked for a fan - so perhaps that should be made more prominent. The room itself was fine for our purposes;clean and tidy though perhaps in need of a bit of a TLC touch-up round the edges. The bed however(or should I say beds, as what we originally thought was a super-king was two single mattresses together)had most definitely seen better days. There was no life left in them and you were quite aware of the large coiled springs under the surface. However, we were only there a couple of nights, and we slept well enough in spite of that. Breakfast was fine.We were a bit disappointed there was no muesli to be found, or croissant - but maybe we were too late down and it was all gone. Our evening meal was very good - delicious and well presented, and made-up for the lack of mattress quality somewhat. We got a good deal through Classic Britain so feel we got value for what we paid.

staff were excellent very pleasant made the stay enjoyable I would use this hotel again bedrooms would benefit from a walk in shower as the elderly find it difficult having to get into a bath

bedroom let down by lacking of air conditioning, with a small window opening the room was unpleasantly stuffy. only one bedside table. bathroom badly needed an upgrade. a change to a walk in shower would an improvement. as always staff were first class, very friendly and professional.

Rooms were clean and comfortable and staff were very courteous and helpful. Not sure I would grade it four star but for the amount we paid for our break it was very good value. Would recommend.

Love menzies irvine, been a few times now, although was dissapointed in the new menu types, not much of a choice for main meal, on one menu, so had to choose from the other and pay extra, but still enjoyed our stay, room was smaller than previous but nice enough, bed was very comfortable

Bedrooms are comfy, could do with a freshen up. Dining room chairs a bit scruffy, otherwise it's lovely. Staff are very friendly . Good value break.

The room was lovely. Although we had a long walk to get to the dinning area. Disappointed with the food. I ordered a prawn cocktail which was tasteless. The prawns had been frozen and left to defrost, as the water was still in the prawns when eating. My main course was okay, although I had to ask for a spoon for the Parmesan cheese. Did not like the fact that the other main course of Haddock was served on a wooden board, as this type of board is a haven for bacteria. The chips were also raw in middle. Breakfast was okay. However items seemed to be slow in getting replaced, as we had to wait both mornings for breakfast to be replenished. This hotel rating was supposed to be a four star. However I do not think this is a true reflection, as it is more in line with a 3 star. There are no additional leisure or Spa facilities that would make it a four star rating. We dined out on our second night. Which was a good choice. This hotel seems to be good at catering for wedding parties. However this is at the detriment of the other hotel guests. If the they managed to balance this out then the hotel would be a lot better. If I was to go back to this area again, then I would look at alternative hotels.

Excellent service. The test of a good hotel is how they deal with customers problems. We had a small complaint about our room. We were immediately visited by Gary, the duty manager. He solved the problem quickly and too our satisfaction. He also sought us out the next day to ensure that everything was OK. Top marks for service also to restaurant staff who in spite of dealing with 5 coach parties at the same time were quick, efficient and friendly.
