Riverside Lodge Hotel, Irvine

Reception area, Restaurant & food all excellent. Had booked 2 rooms a family room and a double room. The family room was acceptable however the double room was stinking of smoke, so another room allocated, this room was very musty and had lots of small moths, could not wait to check out the room (114). I know it was a good deal but really the 2 double rooms offered were not acceptable for an advertised 4 star hotel, extremely dissapointed considering this was a mother’s day treat :-(

All the staff I spoke to at the Riverside Lodge were very friendly and helpful. We stayed here a few times when it was a Hallmark hotel and will still use it under the new ownership. Our room was spotless and a very good size. We were there for two nights and had dinner each night. The second night I had the bream which was excellent. Buffet breakfast was good with items being topped up regularly.

Great value for money for the dinner and wine deal , food was very tasty . Just check your bill as was charged more than rate on website even after taking into account extra drinks and food , didn’t notice until got home .

Just back from a 2 night break and could not fault our break for the price we paid,staff were really good from reception friendly and efficient,our room was clean and comfortable a good size,a bit tired but the hotel is going through a refurbishment at the moment ,it looks like it will be beautiful when all done,the meals were lovely as were the staff in the restaurant,would definitely recommend.

We enjoyed our stay at the riverside hotel. The room is clean and tidy, needed updated, but hotel is being refurbished is will be done shortly. Service was good. I was abit disappointed with the food. It was presented nice but my main meal was so salty is was unbelievable, didn't enjoy it.

We had a lovely stay over the Easter weekend in this hotel. Yes, it's a bit tired looking, but it is going through a refurbishment. All the staff were lovely and nothing was a problem to them, I hope this doesn't change:) Also, the standard of the food was fantastic, the deal that we had included 2 nights dinner - great value for the money. Would definitely recommend this hotel

The hotel is needing refurbished but room allocated was large and beds very comfortable. Decor and fittings tired as expected but food and staff were excellent. I must compliment young staff who had to deal with rush of guests all coming for breakfast at same time. I enjoyed my stay and would go back in the future.

Hotel is due to undergo a refurbishment. It's required as hotel is a bit tired. Staff were excellent. Polite, courteous and very helpful. Evening dinner was very good on both nights we stayed (fish pie was superb). Breakfast was disappointing. Food and plates were cold. Location is ok. We will give hotel another visit once it has been refurbished.

Room was a bit dated and dirty in places,had to add on my 8 year old son and got charged almost as much for him as I did for the deal for 2 adults,staff were really accommodating though.

We stayed here on saturday 31march,the staff are so friendly and could not do enough for you,the 2 course meal was excellent ,the buffet breakfast was good but was a Luke warm,but still good.the bedroom was nice and clean, although the hotel is going through a refurbished but still excellent value,Wii have to go back when hotel finished.overall our stay was very good and would definitely go back.

Had a lovely stay . Meal was great. Staff so nice and helpful. Our room was one that hadn't been refurbished but was clean and had everything we needed thats the only reason for a 7. Was our 2nd time staying in 5wks and wont be our last.

This is our second visit to the Riverside and again had a great stay. The staff were very welcoming and greeted us with a smile at both dinner and breakfast. Has been taken over was originally Hallmark. Cant wait to see what changes they make.

When we arrived, we had to ask for the toilet in our room to be cleaned. Since cleaning wasn't available, we were moved to a very pleasant room but one which had a light flickering in the toilet, the starter was obviously needing replaced. Maintenance wasn’t available so we had to put up with it ( we were offered another room but declined). We had to remind reception that the deal we had included a free bottle of wine. We were pretty sure we wouldn’t have got it if we hadn’t mentioned it. The bar was very cold. The drink I ordered and which was advertised wasn’t available in the advertised form. No mention was made of this fact until the drink had been poured by the barman. The restaurant was very understaffed. Although we were served our starter immediately, the main course took ages - we were in the restaurant for over an hour before it eventually was placed before us. I would have liked some horseradish sauce with my steak pie but there wasn’t any. The food was excellent and the staff were hard working and pleasant but by the time we were able to eat it it was very late. Breakfast was busy and again the staff were run off their feet. The various items of hot food were brought in in quantities that were far too small for the number of guests. ALL plates for hot food were very cold. By the time we had queued for food and waited for the very inadequate toaster to provide enough toast, our “hot” meal was stone cold. There were various items from the hot buffet which weren’t available for us, they had run out or not bothered to replace them. The cold food was not adequate. No pastries, hardly any fruit, no fresh bread which we could have cut to suit ourselves. In a 3 star hotel none of these things would have been surprising even if they’d been poor but in a hotel which claimed to be 4star, the quality of accommodation was very poor. The only 4star aspect of our stay was the staff who must be praised because they couldn’t do enough for us.

Once again my wife and I had a great week-end at the Riverside. A great room. Lovely food and wonderful staff who couldn't do enough for you. We have already booked another two week-end breaks.
