Riverside Lodge Hotel, Irvine

Stayed on a 2 night break 1 night dinner 2 breakfast. Food was good. Hotel needs upgrading bedrooms old fashioned ( brass fittings) eg wall lights and picture frames in bedrooms.cheap bedside lamps with metal bases. Firniture scuffed and worn. Restuarant paper napkins. Sld be linen in a 4 star hotel also sld have table cloths. We were not offered wine list also not offered a la carte menu. We asked and were told it was not available. We witnessed people smoking out room windows and were woken on the sat night at 1.30am with someone banging on room 247 door. Overall we enjoyed but wld give this hotel 3 stars

Enjoyed our stay at Menzies. Hotel very nice and staff helpful and friendly. The food was fine but not quite the standard of some of your other four star hotels. The set dinner menu was limited and and quite plain when it came. The breakfast was fine but not very warm. The room was excellent. Very spacious and spotless. It looked like an upgrade and we were delighted with it.

The hotel has wonderful family size rooms,however could do with more family activities ie play park need to be rebuilt,a wee welcome pack with colouring in paper , pencils and a wee sweetie.A wee corner in the nice lounge with some toys and colouring in stuff.Also it has 2 huge tv's in the lounge and both played sport and the news most of the time,some time could be dedicated to children'sTV.Overall a lovely break,with really nice an accommodating staff,but I think you are missing a trick wih the family market.

we enjoyed another stay at one of our favourite hotels. the one minor point which needs attention is the toaster used at breakfast. it did not work months ago and still not working. we had excellent breakfasts which would have been better with the traditional toast. the hotel is excellent in all other aspects. we will be back.

we had a very good 2 night B&B with dinner on one night, a real bargain !Since the hotel was very quiet we were upgraded to executive rooms .

Positive- Dinner selection better and more enjoyable this time. Negative- No bedside cabinet on my side of bed, fire alarm went off 3 times over 2 nights, breakfast still not hot enough but slightly better than last time, could do with new batteries in remote for tv, shower not great, water takes ages to drain away in sink.

Excellent overnight break- celebrating a friends birthday. Booked a triple room and was delighted to find that we had been allocated a room with two doubles and one single bed. Very spacious. Could not fault the food - excellent service too. Will definitely return- superb value for money

Best British hotel I have stayed in. Rooms huge, everything worked and all very fresh. 15 mins walk to lovely town centre. 10 mins to lovely Chinese restaurant. Direct road from hotel. We had 1 dinner & 2 breakfasts. Breakfast excellant and wide, wide choice. One little niggle: in a Scottish breakfast why can't we have a Scottish sausage. My wife dosen'tlike the Leicestershire variety supplied. Trivial I know as the whole deal was very good at a very good price. We shall return and recommend it to others.

I was disappointed that after we had to leave the hotel due to an emergency at home we were still charged the full rate. We had not even unpacked our case.
